A friend of mine was getting ready to make green bean casserole for Thanksgiving and got quite a surprise. All of her cans contained beets instead of green beans. I have never seen this before. Fortunately she found some cans in her pantry that did contain green beans. Have you ever opened a food can and got a surprise like this ?

I guess these things happen more than we know.

Good thing she found green beans. I couldn't even picture trying to use beets instead
Just the other day my daughter opened a can of what she thought was soup and it turned out to be carrots. She definitely wasn't paying attention when she grabbed that can. Guess what veggie we had for dinner that night

That's funny.
..Maybe, but none spring to mind. Can you imagine wanting applesauce and getting sauerkraut instead?

@Tampa_girl7 and probably a little disturbing. Now that you mention it I have opened a can expecting it to be something else.

Yes, years ago that happened to me, too. I wasn't happy. I was making a large meal for friends and couldn't leave the house to pick up more of whatever veggie that was supposed to be in the cans... I called a friend and asked them if they could pick some up on their way here and they did. The meal turned out fine.

It’s good that your friend could get what you needed.

@Tampa_girl7 Not having whatever wouldn't have ruined the meal but I was happier with the veggies I wanted.

Wow! I would be complaining to Del Monte. I've never had this happen.

I do not think I have ever been surprised quite like that. I hope she had something to do with the opened beets.

No, I sure haven't. I like a little beets occasionally but not 5 cans worth.

haha! No, thankfully. Although here we don't consume canned food. Vegetables are bought fresh from bazaars mostly

I prefer fresh vegetables, but sometimes we have to settle for canned or frozen.
