A change of plans today.

Son had an appointment this morning. The office is connected to one of our hospitals with the same doctors, but it's further away, so about 20 miles. It was a hard appointment to get, but he called this morning to get either a telehealth appointment for it, or to change it. We had a lot of snow Saturday all day and evening, then none Sunday, then yesterday it snowed most of the afternoon. It snowed again in the night, and the road crews are way, way behind. I told him I was more than willing to try it and take him, but he said it was not advisable and he was going to change it. I have to admit I was pretty nervous when I read about all the problems people were having getting to work or home from work, etc. and all the cars that slid off roads. Son said he wasn't worried about my driving, but he was very concerned about other driver's driving, so he canceled it. I was willing to give it the Mom-try, but he just said a big no way. Our streets are bad and it's only 15 degrees, and there are people out there already waiting on tow trucks. One of my neighbors couldn't get home from her daughter's house last night due to the road conditions being so poor. I feel badly that he missed this appointment, but it just wasn't smart to try it with the roads so nasty.

It was definitely the right decision to postpone although I know it makes you sick to do it.

@MarieCoyle Girl, I know your devotion to your son. You would have hiked with him on your back if he’d let you.

@AmbiePam I guess I could try that, except he's a lot bigger than his old Mom! Yes, I am devoted to him--and to his sisters and his brother. Every one of them is special and you know I am sappy about them all, and love them dearly.

I didn't want to cancel it at all. I got up after the nap I managed (worried about the weather and the roads) and got ready to go...but the son said no way, Mom. I usually try to overrule him in such things, but this time I didn't. He is right...no way.

You took the right decision. The streets are too dangerous and you know that some people drive as they were doing a race. Better safe than sorry.

@MarieCoyle - Your son was right to insist not to try.

@LadyDuck He usually just goes with whatever decisions I make about things. But he just flat out said, no way are we going out in this. And the roads were all just terrible, we both knew that. But it was an important appointment and I hated for him to miss it.

The roads are just not good, I was willing to try it but he didn't want me to. As you said, better safe than sorry!

I saw a road crew out cleaning the streets yesterday. Getting ahead of it all I guess since we having had but a fluttering of snow as yet. I bet there are a lot of people wishing they could work from home in your area. I can understand being concerned about other people's driving. It gets crazy around here. People think they can drive fast on black ice. I'm glad your son is putting his foot down. Can't he do telehealth's?

He does do some telehealth appointments. But this one was about the surgery coming up in the future and included an exam, some tests for it, etc. so we had to reschedule.

@celticeagle The wheels often just don't turn very fast in the medical world, and I truly hate it when things get delayed that he needs. Thank you.

I am sure before long you will get your share of snow. We usually don't get this much on the ground at once so early in the winter. Sometimes, but not often.

The snow plows couldn’t keep up. They are out today salting our roads since a little more snow will be falling shortly.

None of it is melting, it's just too cold. He said he was glad we didn't risk it. Thanks, Heather.

His incision from his surgery last month is slow to heal. It seems to cause his doctor some concern, but we are being careful and watching it. Thank you, Snowy.

None of this is going to melt any time soon. I’m glad we stayed home, but sad he had to miss the appointment.

As much as you hated to miss the appointment it was probably smart to reschedule. Being out in conditions like that would be horrible.

The news said that a lot of people were still waiting to be towed out of ditches, etc. in our area. I don't really want to have to do that if it can be avoided. Thanks, Marilyn.

I understand you weren't keen to cancel but sometimes discretion is the better part of valour - or so they say.

Nothing was hardly moving today, very few people out. It was just so cold and everything is frozen solid. There is over a foot of snow on my patio outside the back door--we don't go in and out of that door in the wintertime, so it doesn't get shoveled.
