What do you like best about your smartphone?

I know a few of you don’t have one, and obviously, you’re doing fine without one. I just like that I can do so much with it. I don’t use anything, but my phone. So far, I haven’t lost it either. A desktop was my favorite years ago, then a Kindle. I never liked laptops. But since I can read books, take pictures, text, call, search online, return emails all on my phone, this is definitely my favorite way of doing everything. If I want to print anything, I can always use my dad’s computer and printer. What do you like best about a smartphone? If you don’t have one, would you ever get one?

I like the ability to take photos of parking spots to remember where to find my car, taking photos of interesting things to share on myLot, taking photos of vacations without a bulky camera, and taking photos of important documents

Thank goodness we don’t need those cameras anymore.

@sallypup I was laughing at my inept self. It takes me forever to catch on to new things. I do wish I could show you what little I do know just because you can do so much by voice command that it might really help, but you’ve been doing just fine on your own.

@AmbiePam Funny me. I guess you use a finger to swipe across the screen to move something?? I am not good at that cause I've had folks try to show me photos and I always goof them up.

The coolest thing about smartphones, to me, is the unlimited photo space. When I was a kid it was a roll of film, 12 or 24 exposures, and THEN you had to wait until they came back from Fotomat to make sure they’d actually turned out okay. No problem with that with a cellphone anymore!!! I also like having the GPS on it, and music!

I think most of us really rely on our phones. I know I use mine more than ever, since the son has been ill. If he is at the hospital or treatment center, I am looking up this and that about what they are doing or saying, I research meds and their side effects, I use it to check grocery prices, gas prices, etc. I use it for directions when I am going to a place I am not familiar with, or to look up an address to get there. My family and friends text me and I text them back, and on and on it goes...I do have a laptop. I have always preferred a laptop to a tablet. I have been gifted several tablets over the years but I hardly use them, I'm not sure why. I do like to type with a real keyboard--hey, I'm old. I learned to type in school and I am a very fast typist, it just goes way faster than typing everything on a phone or a tablet for me. I guess it's all what we get used to. The best thing about smartphones is the cameras. They take so much better pictures for me than lugging a camera around.

I think I take the camera for granted sometimes.

@AmbiePam I have never been the world's greatest photographer. But I have taken some pictures on my phone that turned out way, way better than any I have ever taken with a point and shoot camera.

can find out where our current location is, the only weakness is that when there is no GPS signal, the location is not accurate.

I cannot say that I like my smartphone. I use it only and when I am obliged to use an app, but I use my desktop all the time. My husband just bought a Kindle to read books.

I like that I can charge my phone, use it for days reading and texting with people before needing to charge it again.

I have Vince's old one. Vince uses his for everything and it's quite amazing what it is capable of. I don't use mine to its full potential but I'm getting better at it.

My boyfriend and I share a phone... I'm not really into it like that. I use my PC for everything.
