We tried something new today.

Sometimes, I like to try to cook something I've not tried before, or a new recipe or just something different to enjoy. Today was that day. My son loves Italian food--anything. (If he lived close to NJChicaa or @LadyDuck, he would weigh a ton!) My way of making lasagna is to make my own sauce, etc. and put it together myself--and my family loves it, so I must do something right. But it is rather time consuming when I am in a rush. Anyway...son said he had crock pot lasagna once years ago, at a friend's house. He wasn't impressed, he said it didn't taste good. But he wanted me to make it in the crock pot using my own recipe with my own sauce, to see what it would taste like. I got brave today and did that. We had it for dinner and it was really delicious, I was shocked. I expected it to be gummy and gloppy, but it was good! The main thing was that he enjoyed it a lot. He has good ideas sometimes about cooking. On busy or hard days, it's nice to let dinner cook and not have to worry about it until dinnertime. Pinterest picture. We were eating before I thought to take a picture of my own lasagna!

I always thought if I made it, it would be, well...too sloppy? But surprisingly, it wasn't. It was really good!

I have made lasagna soup but not in the crock pot. But I am planning on trying it as well before too long.

I made enough for two meals...hurry up, girl! Love to try new recipes, I always have. And my kids always ate them up, so I guess they were good!

I am sure it was delicious, what counts more is the good ingredients and the home made sauce. I will consider making lasagna for the Epiphany day. I made tortellini for Christmas dinner.

He likes tortellini a lot, I will have to make him some soon. He has always loved just about anything with pasta in it. I think pasta is a good comfort food.

@MarieCoyle - I like pasta, often we only have pasta for lunch followed by fresh fruits.

@LadyDuck If son had his way, we would have it a lot more often, but we don't need pasta every day. He has always loved it.

I will always love my oven version, but it was really good in the crock pot as well. We make lasagna most often in the winter but we always enjoy it.

He had seconds. And I never thought lasagna in the crock pot sounded like it would taste very good, I was surprised. Thanks, Lou.

Your lasagna does sound very tasty. I've never had a crockpot. I've thought about getting a small one.

Crock pots are wonderful. Basically put in the food and turn it on and forget it until time to eat!

I do all sorts of lasagnas including lasagna soup. Just did a Carmine's Lasagna for a neighbor who just had a baby. That can feed them for a week. hahahaha

I always make either a big pan or two smaller ones. It freezes great in portions for other meals. I am more than certain YOUR lasagna, along with our Anna's, is delicious!

Good that you were not hesitant to be brave and it turned out good. Now, you have a good dish to cook on days when you want a delicious dinner and just want to let dinner cook while you can enjoy. I love cooking and I too try experimenting. And most days it is grand success

I have eaten lasagna for the first time in party where I was invited. I thought before it was a spaghetti sans tomato paste or ketchup.
