A very different Christmas.

It just didn't go as planned. Sometimes, no matter how hard we plan things, they just don't work out, do they? Son was simply not well enough to go to his sister(my daughter) and brother in law's Christmas dinner last night. After a few back and forth calls (they live about 20 miles away) we agreed to call it a wash and hoped to get together soon with them. About an hour later, I got a call saying ''Mom, we will be there shortly, we just brought the dinner with us! '' So, we did share some time and had our somewhat traditional Christmas dinner--homemade soups, homemade breads, and some other things we enjoy eating. We parked the son in the living room and he did pretty well. He was so happy to see them! We ate and watched ''It's a Wonderful Life'' which is a much loved movie in our list of traditions. Subdued and very small, we did get to see some loved ones and that meant everything. I did feel badly for my daughter and son in law. They went to all of that trouble for us, stayed several hours, drove the 20 mile drive back home and OH, we had so much terrible fog. They said the drive was extremely foggy and hard to see. Ugh. Then they got up super early to go to son in law's parents to see them for a few hours, which is about 125 miles one way. His parents are not well at all and very frail, so they can't come here to visit very easily. All in all, we are doing our best and son is doing better today. His brother called, as did one sister, the other sister texted and they are calling later today. The main thing was that son had some family time. It was plain and simple and heartwarming, and that meant so much. So that is our not very exciting Christmas. But, it was still sweet and special. As the day winds down, I hope all who celebrate Christmas here have had a good day and feel blessed and loved.

It was so nice. This is our traditional Christmas Eve dinner. Christmas dinner has varied over the years, depending on time, place, and who was coming and what they wanted to eat, but Christmas Eve has always been the same. We had a good visit and felt very fortunate, thank you.

You just take it one day at a time. George and I spent time outside now he's watching t.v. I'm hoping that he'll feel better, too.

Family gathering in a simple way especially this Yuletide seasons of the year is enough to make everyone happy and be grateful that they're back together as a family. Thus it makes Christmas is the joyous season of the year.

My son in law loves to cook, he really fixes delicious foods. My daughter got one of the nicest guys in the world when she met him. He has been so very good to me as well, a truly good guy. I hope you had a great Christmas, Judy.
