What do you think about people who push their cats in strollers?

On the channel I watch the morning news, they do a segment called What Caught My Eye. One lady played a clip of a 104 year old WW2 Navy vet playing the National Anthem on his clarinet at a New York Islanders hockey game. Touching, right? Then another anchor shared pictures of her walking her cat in a covered cat stroller. What a contrast, right? Anyway, she said her cat looks so longingly outside, while it is an indoor cat she wanted to give her a taste of the outside.
I once had a neighbor who took her cat for walks on a cat leash (yes, made specially for cats). I thought that was a good idea really if she was afraid it would get away. Mostly, they just sat on the bench and the cat soaked in the sun on the grass.
So, I was thinking of our cat lovers here. I cannot see a world in which @NJChicaa would try this. I don’t think snowy would either. @GardenGerty has outdoor cats, but if need be, I think she might do it. @TheHorse would never, I don’t believe. While I can’t see myself using a stroller, I’d take a cat on a leash if I could train it too (if I had an indoor cat).
What do you think about people who put cats in strollers? Are leashes better? I guess if you start it when they’re young they’d get used to a leash.

@TheHorse might train Kitty to push him around in the stroller or walk on a leash but I can't see pony doing either of those with Kitty.
At our last house we had a neighbor who walked his cat on a leash. I've never known anyone who pushed their cat(s) in a stroller.6 people like this

@DaddyEvil @AmbiePam I have seen videos of people who pushed chickens in strollers, so I guess anything is possible. My Doc says I need to quit pushing people in wheel chairs, so I am sure she would feel the same about Bruno and Pedro in a stroller.

@GardenGerty I've seen a video of a lady pushing her cat in a stroller and thought it looked silly.
You're probably right and your doctor wouldn't like you pushing the big boys around in a stroller, either.

Yeah no I would never put a cat in a stroller. I go have a harness and leash for Charlie though. I had plans to try to train him to walk on a leash a couple of years ago so he could be a therapy cat for nursing homes and such. That fell by the wayside though. I really should try it in the spring though. He is such a friendly and confident cat. I think he'd be great.

I have a friend who has 3 Shelties, and they have all been trained to be therapy dogs. One has a missing leg, he was a rescue found on the side of a road with his leg destroyed, Another has a missing ear that no one knows just how he lost the ear, he was turned into rescue with the ear gone. The third has all of her parts,,,the three are best friends, They go to nursing homes, schools, work with autistic children, etc...and my friend takes them somewhere every day. Everyone loves them, and they do so much good.

I have indoor/outdoor cats. Like me they eat too much, are too sedentary, and need to walk more. So, no strollers for me. I have seen people push itty bitty dogs in strollers. It is beyond me.

@AmbiePam Sweet. I can see it if there is no safe place for them to be outside.

A lot of the shops here will not allow dog or cat strollers anymore. There was evidently a lot of instances of using the stroller’s pockets, etc. as a place to hide shoplifted items.
I personally would not do it, and you know I love animals.

I remember years ago visiting Barcelona. There were often beggars outside the various churches, and they would hurry from one to the other to be there when the service/mass finished. One man I saw had a white cat with him. It was perfectly happy to sit there with him outside the church as people came out and gave him alms. But as soon as the people had dispersed, he gathered up his things, the cat jumped into a little cart, and they hurried away to their next stop!

When I lived in MN a friend had a cat. In that town cats were not allowed to roam free outside so she had to take it for walks on a leash. That was pretty funny to watch.
I have seen someone taking their cat for a walk in the woods on a leash too.

I think a leash is better. The cat gets out and gets some exercise.

That really is quite the contrast, from a 104-year-old WWII vet to a cat in a stroller. Both are touching in totally different ways, which is kind of funny and ironic when you think about it. I get why someone would want to give an indoor cat a safe taste of the outside world. The stroller idea still feels a bit much to me, but I understand the intention behind it. It is debatable but still fine. A leash seems more natural, especially if the cat is calm and trained early. I’ve seen cats on leashes just lounging in the sun, and they look perfectly content. Some cats can never tolerate either option, no matter how young you start the training. Others might actually enjoy the stimulation and fresh air. I think it really comes down to the cat’s personality and the owner’s comfort level. Enjoy the time!

My grandmother walked her cats on a leash, but did not put them in a stroller. I've seen a dog in a stroller, though.

Well I do respect them for they're pleased by doing that. It's not cimmon here that people bring their cats while going out. Domesticsted cats usually stay inside the house.
