Everyone enjoys seeing colorful parrots. People who keep parrots as pets are sometimes unnerved by their sudden squawks and noises they utter. They can be taught to repeat certain phrases and often pick up phrases from things they hear most often. Research done on parrots has revealed that they can solve certain linguistic processing tasks the same as children who are between the ages of 4 and 6. Parrots are also able to understand the concepts between words like "same" and "different," "bigger" and "smaller," and "none" and "numbers." They can understand zero. It is thought that the patterns of parrot speech learning can be useful to develop artificial speech skills in robots. Listen to these talented singers

I watched a YT video a few days ago where a Japanese scientist proved that birds possess their own languages with their own words and grammar.

Parrots are really smart creatures and highly social. They appear to form a strong bond to their owners from what I've noticed. And some species can outlive their owners with lifespans of 80-100 years! Wow!

African gray parrots are amazingly intelligent; but they need a lot of attention and stimulation... I'd love to have one; but they are very messy.

@LindaOHio Well, just so I had someone to talk to and I could have a ocnversation I would not mind have one however as you say they are messy and there are other things to consider, Imagine sleeping and suddenly the parrot yelling Wake Up?

It makes me want a parrot! I was watching a video the other day of a guy who keeps getting concerned visits from the police. His parrot cries like a baby, so neighbors hear the constant cries and think there is no one home with it. He works from home, but he just can’t stop the parrot.

@AmbiePam poor guy wonder what's up with the parrot, He should put on some music and get it to start singing instead of crying,

I know parrots are very smart. Here in a park, there was a show and the parrots could fly to pick the money when we showed them in our hands. If you held the paper, the parrots would ignore it totally

I have watched a lot of parrot and cockatoo videos on FB. They are pretty interesting. I think watching them imitate people's voices and their laughs are entertaining.

Animals have their own language to communicate. Wouldn't it be great to arrive to communicate verbally with animals?

Birds can be truly wonderful companions. I raised birds and had them in my home for years, parakeets, finches, cockatiels, parrots, and on and on...they were so much fun. When you said you wanted a pet, I very nearly suggested to you to try to get a bird or two. Parakeets are not expensive at all, and they WILL talk. I had one parakeet live nearly 20 years. He talked all the time, and was so much fun.

@RasmaSandra Parakeets and finches are quiet birds. They twitter a bit now and then but no screeching.
