We got a new microwave

After ten years our microwave quit working. My first though was it might be higher because of the tariffs. But it was about the same price So that made me happy.
Took the microwave home and unpacked it. Two cats came running into the kitchen. They looked at me. My husband told them they could have the box. I folded down the sides and put the box in the dining room. Now we have two happy cats. They jumped right into the box.
Did you know that a box makes a cat feel safe. A box traps heat so the cat feels warm inside the box.
So right away they started shedding the box up. Now I have two happy cats.

A new microwave, hope it lasts as long as the last one lasted Judy.
Is that a big cat or a small box?
Beautiful kitty
Cats do seem to like a good box.

My microwave was dying, conveniently at the same time my daughter moved and had to get a smaller one as the newer one they had was too big for the spot in their new place when they moved here. I ended up getting a ritzy microwave out of the deal and my old one went to the microwave graveyard.
Glad the kitties enjoyed the box so much.

My microwave has not quit, but it has peeling paint in the inside. It is at least twelve years old. I was just saying it is time to get a new one. My cats do not often get in boxes, that I know of. They love to get in my chair or my bed. They snuggle to get warm.

One of my son in laws is an electrician. He threw away his mother's microwave, because he says peeling paint inside is not safe and can spark a fire very easily. When the paint peels, the metal, is exposed. Even if you don't see metal, if the paint peels you have a fire danger and it's recommended that you get rid of it. The paint supposedly peels from too much moisture in it, or a lot of use, or the age of the microwave.

It's funny how attracted to boxes cats are!! Glad they are happy cats now and that you got a new microwave. I remember when we moved here. There was a built in microwave above the stove. I don't know when it was installed but it lasted almost 17 years for us and I'm guessing it was here for a couple of years before we moved in. I hope the replacement lasts that long!!

My nuker is about 30 years old and still working, more or less... It's a KitchenAid MicroKrisp, made in Sweden.

Uhm... before the tariffs, microwaves were cheaper than they were ten years ago.

@jstory07 I don't mind spending money if it's something we need and sometimes, something we just want. My daughter, on the other hand, hates spending money, period!

I think the prices have stabilized a lot since the high cost of everything during Biden's term. Cats definitely love to go in boxes!

My cat's furry bed is in a carton style box. It has a pillow and a toy in there too.

So well, boxes are good for cats!
Greetings on the new microwave.
Do you have any special microwaveable dish containers, apart from Glass.
We have some glass containers but handling glass needs a very high care.

I think I haven't used one in ten years lol the radiation that gives off to food is very harmful. I just warm my food up stove top or in the oven
