Just how many times have you been tested for Covid?

This occurred to me when @snowy22315 just posted about Covid tests expiring. It made me think of the only time I got an official (at least I think the only time) Covid test was September 2025 when the doctor wanted me to go to the ER and I wouldn’t (a few days later I went). He tested me for the flu, and then I suggested Covid and of course I got that thing up my nose. Back when my dad first got it at the beginning of lockdown, I just isolated for a couple of weeks because I had been near him. Things were so different then. It was harder to get tests.

Gee, I don’t know. I know I’ve been tested at the hospital (“officially”) at least ten times (back in the days of the pandemic in 2021 they’d give you a test before a dental appointment at the VA), and at least a dozen times with home tests.

@AmbiePam — yeah, it’s easier now than the first time, when I think they were trying to scrape my brain instead of the inside of my nose.

@FourWalls I agree, the test I had in the ER that nurse tried to shove the swab clear through my head! I bled from that test! And she tried to tell me it didn't hurt!

I was tested three times. Once against my will when I needed an antiallergy shot at the ER and they swore I had Covid no matter how many times I told them I was having a severe allergic reaction. The other two times I went to the local drive-up pharmacy and got tested there when I was sick. I've never had Covid. And those home tests are useless after the liquid in the little vials dries up. I threw all the ones we had left away.

I've been tested once but by then it was duh!! Brain fog for sure. I have been dreading winter cause the last few winters we've been so ill. Right now we are just skating along on what is usual for us.

3 times and I tested positive. All 3 times were after going out with the same couple. Hubs only got it the first time being out with them. We tested ourselves with a kit and double checked at the lab. The next two times our kits had expired, so I went to the doctor.

I do not know for sure. Not too many times. I also have had what they call the full respiratory panel at least twice. I usually get told I have nothing but a Or rhinovirus. That is what I get for putting a rhino up my nose.

I've never had a covid test. I am very fortunate not to have ever gotten it or been sick enough for them to think it was covid and needing a test.

I can't remember. We only did home tests, and we had to test ourselves before we joined any group activity, so must have done half a dozen or so I suppose.

My daughter sent off for some home test,, and we had them on hand when I had covid, so by then they must have been widely available.

I took a test this past December when Tom was in the hospital. They tested him and said he had it, but didn't give him anything except Musinex. He didn't have any symptoms. I did a home test, but wasn't sick and it came out Negative. Back in 2024 at the ER the nurse TRIED to give me a test and once she got up the one nostril and it hurt, I told her NO! They let it go. Back in 2021 I went to CVS and took a test, but didn't have to swab my brain like they Nurse tried to do. It was negative...I was getting Bronchitis just like a usually do that time of year. So far No Covid.

Many times. I’d say more than 50. During the pandemic I had to be tested every time I travelled and show a certificate. I’ve had Covid five times.

I have lost track of how many times I have either been tested, or did an at-home test. For a time, when son was in for a surgical procedure or in the hospital, since I was in and out and he was stuck there, they recommended I be tested before he had the surgery when he was tested. They were trying to prevent him from getting Covid, so I could understand that.
