Screaming Kids

One of the neighbor's grandkids (little kid) is screaming and crying at the same time... I can hear their parent telling them they can't stay with grandpa... *sigh* Just put them in the car already. Don't torture the rest of the neighborhood by letting them scream and cry where we have to listen to it. (I'm in my house with all the doors and windows closed and it sounds like the kid is standing beside me screaming their head off.

I really hope so... Most of the kids and grandkids are fairly respectful and take the little ones inside when they start bawling... This was a young-ish grandson with his first kid, I think. (The guy looks around 20 years old.)

Pretty tried that when she was around 10 years old. I left the basket of stuff I was planning on buying and dragged her out of the store. And no, I didn't go back and buy anything that day. She stayed with her grandma for two years any time I needed to go into a store.

@DaddyEvil A lesson well learned I bet. Kids need to be taught what is right and what is wrong.

@velvet53 She tried it again when she was around 15 years old. I walked out of the store and drove home, leaving her to walk the two miles home. (One of my brothers called and said she was walking and asked if I wanted him to bring her home. I told him what had happened and to let her walk.)

@crossbones27 Were you in Worlds of Fun up there? We were there several times while Pretty was little.
We usually rented a motel/hotel room and stayed for a weekend and played in WoF the entire weekend. (It's about an hour and a half from Aurora.)

@jstory07 I hope the parent learns that isn't a good idea before the kid reaches their teens.

@DaddyEvil Me, too. It was pretty rainy this morning, so we didn't go to the pool. Probably going on Friday.

For how long has this been going on? I’d hate to have to listen to this for hours.

Grandpa went back into his house and closed the door after about ten minutes. Thank goodness!

@celticeagle If I don't want grandma and grandpa pissed at me, I can't call the police.

@DaddyEvil for this matter we cannot contact the police because the perpetrator is still a minor unless the child commits a crime.

@May2k8 But the police can arrest the parents for allowing the child to keep screaming.

I'm sorry that happens.
Screaming during the night, I'd call the police. Screaming at night means somebody is being hurt so the police would be needed. There is a city ordnance here that no noise after 10 pm until 7 am.

Screaming kids can really be annoying. We never did that when we were kids. We were too scared of our mom to have any tantrums. When she said no, it's a no.

@DaddyEvil And you never forgot that.
Craig as a really good child. He never had any tantrums at all. We only had to explain things to him why we said no and he understood. He was almost like a perfect child.

@DaddyEvil - My parents did the same and we were scolded if we were screaming in the apartment because kids must not disturb the neighbors.

@LadyDuck As long as we were outside, mom didn't care how loud we were. Our nearest neighbors were 1/2 mile away. (over 1 km away)

When Pretty was little and threw a fit, I shoved her in the car, buckled her in her seat as quickly as possible so nobody else had to hear her.

It didn't. Grandpa went in the house and closed the door so they gathered up the child and put them in the vehicle after about 10 minutes and left.

I've never been on an airplane with a screaming kid. Kids shouldn't be allowed on an airplane until they're old enough to know not to cry out loud or scream, in my opinion, of course.

@DianneN I would feel awful for the other passengers. The parents chose to take the baby on the plane without asking other people if they'd mind listening to a crying child.

We live opposite a school and there is one kid over there who occasionally must lose it and screams and screams. If I can hear it with our extra-thick glass and across the road and parking lot, how incredibly loud must it be if you're standing next to them?

This happened a lot with my niece and my mother. It went on forever, and I believe there was a lot of guilt involved.
Of course, this was years ago.

@DaddyEvil Sorry, I didn't explain that very well. My niece was three and didn't want to leave her grandma and go with her mother and screamed bloody murder.

Oh, yeah... I wasn't surprised when grandpa went back into his house and closed the door. I wish I had a few more walls and doors between me and the screaming kid.

After grandpa went back in the house and closed the door, the guy loaded the kid up and left. Maybe 10 minutes later.

You have reminded of a marriage ceremony attended by many families with all their kids who were screaming. I was talking to some of my friends, but being unable to talk there, we left to a park near the wedding venue.

A lot of wedding invitations now say not children will be allowed at the weddings. Some people get mad that they have to find a babysitter when they don't want to pay for one. If they trained their kids to stay quiet, they could take them... Nobody wants screaming kids at their special ceremony. You can't blame them for that.

Either the parent is very inexperienced or they're hoping somebody else will take care of the screaming kid.

I can understand your ire.
