One Thing After Another

Going across the Astoria-Megler bridge

We’ve been moving things from storage and our trailers into the house, hoping this would finally be the week we could settle in and actually live there. We were waiting on the regulator to slow the water down. Today, though, part of the electric kept shutting off and running at low voltage. The power company found there is a leg faulting and they pinpointed it between the meter and the home which falls on an electrician to come out, so now the meter is pulled and no power to the home until one gets out to look. So, my son contacted the home dealer, they contacted the contractor who was contacting his electrician..... this is how it has gone the entire time. So many hands in the fire with this property. Meanwhile, we had just stocked up the refrigerator and freezer. With the house power shut off, we had to fire up the power banks and generators (cha-ching…) and move everything back into the cargo trailer fridge and mini freezer. Thankfully my trailer holds a lot, but now it’s packed again. We are so grateful we didn't hook up the huge freezer yet and fill it. Feels like one step forward, two steps back. My bedroom in the house is furnished, looking good and ready for me. Some day..... I’ve got a lot to catch up on today and plan to work on it tonight. One thing I’ve noticed lately, my notifications here are doubling. I get the same alert twice. Is anyone else seeing that? Dinner tonight was simple and comforting. Chopped chicken breast cooked with spices/seasonings and green enchilada sauce added at the end. We had it over rice with a little cheese, and mandarins for dessert. Just saying hello, sharing an update, and doing a little venting. I hope everyone had a good day.

Just keep hanging on until things are done. Be thankful you're finding the faults before you get all moved in or things could be going a lot worse. I haven't noticed doubled notifications. You could send a pm to GAA and ask if there's a problem or if it's just you. Good luck with that. I ate three slices of white meat smoked turkey and a slab of Monterey Jack cheese and ate mandarin oranges and some cherries for my supper.

I agree. I rather be safer in the travel trailer than in the house and something happen. You dinner sounds so good. I like smoked deli meat so thinking of getting some this week. My son has a pluerry coming by spring (pre-ordered), and I told him the deer and birds are going to love him.

@DaddyEvil My son isn't a fan of turkey but I told him I am going to make a small one or part of one once we are in the house. I love sandwiches made from them. Soup is so good with turkey.

Oh, not another big delay! I am just so, so sorry. I am sure both you and your son are beyond frustrated. And it has to be so hard knowing that you have your room ready to sleep in, and you can't use it! I hope they get the electrical issues fixed VERY soon!

I feel sorry for my son who wanted this so bad and was so excited last year when it all began. Now, he wishes he bought a ready made house elsewhere. I'm happy we have the trailers to sleep in if other things happen over time. It's going to be huge in temp drops by the weekend so we hoped to be inside the house.

@noni1959 I would think that your son has every reason to raise a ruckus over all of the delays.

@LadyDuck It is hard. There is a silver lining now. They got it fixed and all has been signed off. The only thing we are waiting on is the regulator and it should be here in a couple days. The city man said we can move in now if we wish. My son is in there tonight but I'm waiting until tomorrow night. I am jumping up and down.

@noni1959 And the list costs with every step. Even with our old house- money poured out pretty good last year. I hope this stops soon.

@sallypup Yes, it does. This house was built and ready by the end of March last year. It couldn't make the trip in until this past fall. It's going to be a year and never lived in. The money that has gone into this could have remodeled an older house, be lived in and money left over.

Nope. It's just keeps going on and on. I worry for my son. He deserves to be happy and calm in his house. I told him it's time to get angry with everyone. More than he has.

Such a lot of double handling there. I hope it all gets sorted very soon. The comments below the posts appear twice but they've been doing that for absolutely ages. I've given up worrying about it.

@JudyEv Thank you. Things are back on track and the electric fixed. Seemed a digger nicked a wire so they replaced and added extra to keep things going. I'll be spending my first night in the house tomorrow! We need a dancing emoji.

It is but our final is the regulator to slow the water down and he should be here Monday, hopefully. Tuesday is is supposed to snow, but I doubt much. I'm in the house now and shut my trailer down, turning everything off.

When they hook us to to the town water we had to put a regulator thing on it too. It was over 70psi and causing so many things to leak in our house. We lowered it to around 40psi which was around the level our well water came in at.

We are on a mountain and the water is coming up from the top. We are kind of in the middle of the mountain. The electric is coming up from the bottom. We can't have a well in this area due to complex groundwater challenges like soil type, seawater intrusion, contamination potential etc. So, the city puts in the lines. They were out doing the septic inspection today but couldn't actually test without the power. Our system is a eco huge one with different tanks, pumps and a drain field.

I hope they get that electrical problem fixed quickly so you can continue moving into the house. One of these days you'll be sitting in the house and sighing a great sigh of relief that it's all done.
