Our Poor Friends

Remember my friend with cancer? She’s still receiving treatment once a month in New York and just returned to Florida last week. I haven’t had a chance to see how her numbers are doing, because we are all more concerned with her husband. He was too ill to fly back with her.
He has congestive heart failure, COPD, and just had aortic valve surgery yesterday. She told me the surgery went well.
We had to cancel our New Year’s Eve plans, because he was feeling so poorly. I invited them to dinner about two weeks later and he seemed well enough, but his legs were so swollen, he kept coughing, and fell asleep in mid sentence.
I am so worried about them both.
On a better note, hubs took me shopping yesterday. I’m at the dentist wearing one of my new outfits. As soon as he gets his crown work done, we’re going out for brunch where they serve delicious 5 egg omelettes, homemade fried potatoes, and huge slices of homemade breads along with a doggie bag!

No, it’s been awful for them both. My friend had to find new doctors in Florida for him. He wasn’t even strong enough for the surgery until yesterday. Hubs had to lift him into a wheelchair for his last doctor appointment on Friday to determine if the meds helped him get strong enough. Apparently, they worked.

Good I hope you feel like eating it. That's a lotta food. I wouldn't mind trying a 5 egg omelet sometime.

I'm sorry to hear about your friends. That is so sad.
We are having omelets too. I love homemade potatoes. I do love potatoes most anyway they are fixed.

@celticeagle Yes, and those are the best potatoes ever, in my opinion. Lucky you. I wonder if they are less expensive in Idaho.

I'm sorry to hear about your friends. It's sad that they're both going through health issues.
A shopping day with the hubby
sounds like a great day to me. And, wearing your new outfit and going out for brunch is certainly a happy day for you.

@JudyEv Her treatments and will to live have kept her going since 2017. She still plays tennis!
However, her husband is still doing poorly since his surgery. He’s not in intensive care anymore, but still hasn’t gotten out of bed to stand and walk a bit as of this morning. Doesn’t sound promising to me. I’m sick over it.

@DianneN I feel the same. It’s nice to see you back on Mylot again. Yes, so many things happened and I was almost gone from Mylot for almost a year as I have seen on my last post last year. Everything is fine with me compared to my hubby.
You’re welcome. You are so kind, too. Btw, happy Valentines Day to you and your husband.

Thanks for stopping by. It’s good to see you again.
Thanks, we have been great friends since the day we met. If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have this beautiful vacation home on the water. She knew the owner who was selling it.
No kidding about shopping. I’m on a roll now

Thank you. I texted my friend after brunch to see how her husband was doing and when the doctor thought he could come home. She said that he was better, but not good and the doctors are doing a wait and see with him. It doesn’t sound good.
