I Failed My Memory Test

I'll preface this by saying that both my older daughter and myself are avid readers. For years we've been reading many of the same books, some at the same time and other times around the same time. It was always fun to be able to talk about them when we finished. But, for some reason we drifted apart with reading at the same time even though still pretty much the same books. One book I read I mentioned it to her and she hadn't started it yet. So, I said, when you read it let me know, I have a question. Yesterday when we were out she said she read that book and asked what my question was. Huh???? (that was over 6 months ago) How in the world would I remember that I had a question when it took her so long to read the book. She looked at me like I would have that question on the tip of my tongue and I looked at her like she had 2 heads and was sprouting a 3rd I can't even believe she remembered I had a question. It's been driving me crazy and now I almost want to dig out the book and see if I can figure out what the heck question I had

That’s hilarious, but to be honest, who the heck could remember a question asked that long ago. You sound pretty normal to me

That’s funny. I don’t know how many people would remember that from six months ago! But I wouldn’t be one of them.

She wouldn't remember either if the shoe was on the other foot but since she just read it and was mad that they killed off a main character but I have no idea what question I would have had but it's been driving me crazy., Not crazy enough to re-read the book though

Oh wow, a question you had 6 months ago would be hard to remember for sure..especially for those of us a bit long in the tooth. I can forget a question I had yesterday, or maybe 5 minutes ago.

Gotta love it when that happens. I wonder what the question was. But I can understand not necessarily remembering what it was six months later.

I would have remembered my question and been happy to ask it. But I remember books I've read for years afterwards. You could always dig the book back out and re-read it now and pop the question on her when it comes back to mind. When my mom was still around, I'd loan her books I'd bought because our reading tastes were very similar. It was rare I read a book and enjoyed it that she didn't also enjoy it.

Those are nice memories you have of sharing books with your mom. I'm tempted to at least thumb through the book to see if it jogs my memory. I know it was a goid book. That much I remember

You'll remember at some random moment when you don't have your phone with you.

How odd is that. I think it'll come to you. Maybe if you picked up the book again.
