Thank goodness it’s Monday and who would ever say that?

Happy Monday! I haven’t been here much. So much going on over the weekend with family and friends and of course, the weather. There’s a huge blizzard going on up north where my kids and grandkids live and where my house is. I’m sure those in the US know about the huge swaths of snow and ice across the country. It’s called Winter Storm Hernando. Today and tomorrow south Florida will have much cooler temperatures, too, for two days. It’s still sunny and beautiful though. Not so bad considering. I’m thinking of spring flowers, however and will do my daily walk later this afternoon when it warms up. Luckily, I made a huge batch of chili and will get 6 meals out of it. Half of it is in the freezer. Hope you all stay safe and keep thinking of spring flowers! How’s your weather?

Our weather is incredibly sunny and warm, it happens here during February, it may snow one day and be spring like another.

@DianneN The beginning of February was cold and we had snow, but the past 10 days warmer than average.

@LadyDuck Enjoy the warm weather while it lasts. I enjoy any weather as long as it’s sunny.

Lucky you. The US is typically cold in the winter, but this year it’s been absolutely miserable. Some winters we get no snow or very little. I’m talking about Connecticut, not Florida

Cold, but no snow. Ain't complaining. Speaking of snow and flowers, my daffodils popped up when we still had snow on the ground. How are your friends and family making out during the blizzard, or are the lines down?

@DianneN Flowers like daffodils and other early blomers will start to pop out anytime after mid Feb. in this area. The daffodils are close to the house, so they probably get a bit of additional warmth.

Great for no snow! Wow! My daffodils don’t even bloom until the second week of April. Is that normal for your area? Thank goodness the power is still on. They have whole house generators which come on immediately. Mine needs to be plugged in and started, but we haven’t lost power. My younger son gets notified if we do and lets us know. For the heck of it, I asked Alexa to turn on a light and then off. She was able to, so that lets me know if we have power.

OMG you just made me so dang hungry, I haven't had chili in years, mostly cuz I don't know how to make it and I refuse to eat canned chili. It should get up to about 67f for us here, that's not too bad at least all I'll need is a light hoody for that. I'm praying that Hernando will warm up instead of freezing out and provide only the rainfall needed, I'm so tired of hearing about flooding.

Thank you. Yeah, I really need to do that. Apparently we'll be in the 80s for this week, I won't mind that at all but no rain in the forecast.

You can look up recipes. I learned the basics online and just threw whatever I wanted into the pot. Really easy and delicious. 67 is pretty comfortable. Our high will be 63 and low 41. It’s always warmer in the sun. And to think yesterday was 87! I hope you get the warmth and rain you need. I’m so tired of hearing about snow and freezing temperatures.

@rebelann We need the rain, too. We are in danger of wildfires.

The winter storms missed my area this time but we're at 17F at 8:30 am. Our high is supposed to reach 39F today and then reach 60F tomorrow. Crazy weather. A lot of the time I don't know what day it is until someone or something online mentions the day of the week. My days are all the same. *shrug* I stayed up for a while yesterday and split up family packs of meat and repackaged them for the freezer and cooked some of them to add to the freezer. Hamburgers and barbecued chicken are ready to be microwaved and eaten when I can't see to cook for myself. I also made a large pot of rotini pasta with cheese sauce and ground beef. I had some of that for breakfast this morning. It's too early in the year for me to be thinking about flowers blooming. I hope you enjoy your day.

That is crazy weather. We were at 87 yesterday. Today will be 63 as a high and a low of 41. Glad you were able to cook and freeze. I love doing that, too. You can always imagine flowers blooming. It’s good for the soul.

@DianneN We've been having highs in the mid-40s this week with lows below freezing. But I'm in the edge of the Ozark Mountains, too. My allergies are already anticipating the spring flowers.

Yes, I heard it was cooler in Florida than normal. Today it is somewhat chilly, but gorgeous outside. Tomorrow it will be back to 70 degrees where it should stay all week.

I'm sure you've heard from your family & friends and that this storm brought quite a mess. From what I'm seeing on the news it's packed a punch dropping feet of snow rather than inches, I hope your part of CT didn't get hit too bad. My part of PA wound up with less than expected which is rare. South of us got clobbered. I'm definitely thinking of spring flowers and seeing green grass instead of white stuff all over the ground. Enjoy your day and your walk when it warms up a bit.

Beautiful Zinnias Yes, I am thinking of Spring flowers now. Maybe I invite hubby to drive me to the nearby Dutch border to buy Spring flowers like tulips for my balcony. That open market has a lot of flowers for sale.

Don't follow much news, but heard about a big snow/weather event coming. Sorry it'll be much cooler there too where you are. Yesterday we had warmer than usual weather, and today is even supposed to be in the 50s. We don't usually get these temps till maybe April. All of our winter has been warmer than usual though... afraid we'll get payback in March!

I have been thinking of chili again, we do love it. I almost always have some in the freezer, too. But we ate the last of it not long ago,so it’s time to make some more!
