My Fun Vintage Corner

I’ve been collecting little treasures from thrift stores lately and I’m really enjoying my small cart corner beside my bed. I use it instead of an end table, with a small three-drawer apothecary table on the other side.
I’ve never been one for perfectly matching showroom decor. I love pieces that have personality, tell a story, and feel unique. Except for my kitty’s ashes in the rosewood box, everything there was thrifted recently and the total cost so far has been under $25 - including the vintage shelf cart.
Around the room, I also have plants on a 1930s end table with drawers, an antique rattan chair, and a blanket ladder made from an antique bed rail. Right now I’m working on my flex room and just found a small antique bookshelf for $5 that I’m planning to paint.
Since I’m a minimalist, I try not to overwhelm my space. My son prefers farmhouse style, and my granddaughter loves vintage too. She proudly displays some vintage Libby’s silver leaf glasses she found at an estate sale yesterday.
Do you decorate by collecting pieces that make you happy, or do you prefer everything to match?

Oh, I would love to see a photo of that. I bet its amazing. I've been watching for an old dresser and bet I find something when I go to Oregon the end of the next month. When I lived there, I found so much on the marketplace. The hunt is fun.

@sallypup My daughter and I went into one long ago before her surgery. We didn't have time to hit up others since I had to get back to my hosting at OCSP. She was in Centralia with my son-in-law (he works out of there), and we had some girl time. I may drive that way next week, depending on this rain stuff.

How nice. I'm not a real up to the minute decor type either. I like vintage and antiques are the jam in my book. We still have the cabinet to an old victrola that played the cylinders. Each piece means something and they are so much better made than stuff we have available to us nowadays.

@celticeagle I wish I picked up the very old player at the thrift store recently. Even not working, it has a story.

I love things that aren't all matchy-matchy...and I really don't like formal. Eclectic and different and representing what the person likes...that's the way to go in my opinion.

I love your vintage corner. Is it an ivy plant I'm seeing?
I don't like everything to match. I want pieces with character too. But these days I just want not too many stuff at all. Trying to live a minimalist life even though I know it's difficult.

It is an ivy plant but fake in an 1800's old birdcage. I have real plants in here too. Spider and snake plants. Minimalist means different to many. Some live with very little. For me, it needs to make me happy, have a place and not just clutter.

I love your vintage corner and I bet you had fun collecting all those pieces.
My house is mix, The living room all matches but the dining room has an old eterge with all sorts of things that make me happy (pictures, votive candles, little collectibles, etc} but nothing cluttered, My bedroom is more like yours with various odds and ends. It's comfy and cozy

My uncle had decorated this house with mismatched things. My mother likes everything to match. I don't care if everything matches as long as they are comfy and pretty.

I don't care too much about matchy-matchy - just what speaks to me. I like your little collection!
