How many sets of silverware do you have and maybe my condo

FYI, if my photo loads you can see our condo, the intercostal behind us, the buildings along A1A on a tiny strip of land, and the Atlantic Ocean. We are in the back right corner.
I only have one set of silverware here. It’s a service for 8 and used for guests and every day usage.
Up north, I have silver plated for daily use, gold plated, heirloom sterling from my mom, which was passed down to her, sterling silver I bought, and pewter, all for guests.
I should bring something nicer and extra to Florida. But which is my choice and where to put it?

@DianneN - Most of the glasses and dishes we had in Switzerland needed to be hand washed, but I sold them all. I do not want to spend too much time washing and cleaning anymore.
The temperature here is more or less the same we had in Switzerland, never too cold in winter and never too hot in summer. We do not even need air conditioning, we had the woods behind our windows.

2 would be ideal for me in Florida. I only have a service for 8 and it’s stainless steel. I don’t like the design, because it’s too contemporary for my taste. Hubs wanted to choose it, because he said I chose everything up north myself.
Thank you. I doubt very much we’d be here if we were inland. We get a beautiful breeze off the water and lots of action.

Lovely water you have there.
That's a lot of silverware. Decisions. Decisions.

@DianneN ..........I would love having the woods in my backyard. But that's just me. I love trees and mountains.
Yes, very important to keep them.

@celticeagle I agree, and have had them all my life. But water seems to be my thing. There are many, many trees in Florida and not all palms.

I own zero of your condos
and no silverware. Come here, you’ll be eating off of plastic plates!

I also have only one set of silverware in our condo. We are rarely there anyways and we don't accept guests there.
Your condo has a really nice view. Ours is in the city center a bit far. from the coastal area. Our view is just the pool.

@DianneN I wish I leave that close to the water.

I only have a service for 8. It’s too contemporary for me and stainless steel. When I have guests, I never have more than 6 people at once here. I had to run the dishwasher just to have clean silverware for the guests, but I included a pot, pot lid, and a measuring cup to justify it
Thanks so much. I love being so close to the water. We are a short ride, walk, or bike ride to our center of town and very close to main roads and highways to get anywhere in Florida. We put in a pool at our last house up north, but hubs didn’t want one when we moved. We have too many critters that would come out of the woods and probably drown, not to mention the leaves.

That is a great area to live. I have a formal tableware set that my Grandmother bought for me many years ago.

Wow what a gorgeous view and a beautiful place to live.
As for silverware I have a set for 12 in the kitfchen. Since we only run the dishwasher a few times a week we tend to run out of silverware faster than dishes.
I also have a set of sterling silver for 8 which I got when I got married. I only use it for the rare occasion I break out the fine china.
Otherwise I have plenty of plasticware handy for times when we have the whole family together (does that count?

Lots of water for sure and we’ve never had a hurricane here - yet!
I agree with running out of silver before the dishes. We only have a service for eight and had to run an almost empty dishwasher before our guests arrived yesterday.
I guess you would need all that plastic ware for your large family, so I would say it counts.

@DianneN I do occasionally miss the days of setting a nice table with a pretty tablecloth, fine china and the sterling silver. But, it's not practical anymore with my large family so we always have to do buffet so all that plasticware and heavy duty chinette plates come in handy. Every once in awhile I tell my daughter we should eat dinner on the fine china and use the sterling

@Marilynda1225 I certainly understand. My grandson brought a friend from school last Thanksgiving. We squeezed him in at the table, but I sent hubs out this year to buy pretty dinner and dessert dishes which just needed tossing into the trash afterwards. It saved a lot of time handwashing the china. However, the rest of the table was set beautifully. I’m sure when my family grows a bit more, I will do the same as you.
I say the same thing to my husband! What the heck are we saving it for?

I have sets of silverware for 12 persons, 8 persons and 4 persons (the newest I bought) For the 12 persons, cups and saucers are included. I bought them for my son’s communion in the 90’s. I couldn’t put them in the dishwasher so I bought the other extra for my dishwasher.

I just have a stainless and a silver plate set. The pewter sounds lovely.

Thanks. The pewter has Fleur de lis on it which goes with my pewter tiles in my floor and backsplash tiles in my kitchen. The bummer is that it has to be hand washed, but just now, I have decided to use it more when we go north. Most of the time we only use a spoon or fork and a knife.

@DianneN when I was living in Miami for a year having an outrageous time I recall it was the old Jewish ladies that were the official snowbirds and the rest were snowchicks ;-)

Lovely picture,
Looks glorious.
We don't really do dinner parties or entertain very much these days,
Glad we downsized to be honest.
Entertaining was a lot of work.
Silverware, oh, well, none that I would be bragging about.
