If this photo doesn’t load, then forget this discussion. Every single flower and shrub, annual and perennial, except one shrub in the lower right was started by my own seeds or divided by me from other plants in my flower garden. Some self seed, such as that pretty pale pink group of tall flowers.
I’m so proud of me! I’m still learning and spend so much time reading about collecting and starting seeds. I’ve been labeling my plants, too.
I have such a nice new neighbor, next door, not the one across the street, whose husband owns a landscaping company. She has a forestry degree and works at the Department of Environmental Protection. She told me that she loves my Cleome. I asked what a Cleome was, because I forget the names of plants that pop up out of nowhere.
The Cleome is also called a spider plant and has the pale pink flowers. She asked me to save her about 8 seeds, but I didn’t know where to find them. Mine had self seeded from two years ago. Anyway, she showed me and now I have hundreds of seeds for her, for me, and for my gardening friends.

That is really lovely Dianne
If I said I loved your Cleome, you might think I was being rude...

@LadyDuck I only grow thyme in the window greenhouse in my kitchen and only grew mint years ago in a container in the ground. You’re right, they smell great! Got rid of it because I don’t use mint. Fortunately, I haven’t had a problem with marigolds invading my garden, but they are so easy to pull out.

Thanks, Anna. I only plant green bean seeds in my vegetable garden, but have to buy the rest of my vegetable plants. I return from Florida too late to start them.
The annuals produce so many seeds that I must have over 4000 marigold seeds of all varieties alone! It’s such a wonderful hobby for me. Don’t you just love watching everything grow?

@DianneN You're very welcome.
We have daffodils blooming by the patio in the back yard but they were already here when we moved in.

It all looks wonderful. Does the garden start blooming like this every spring? Looks like a nice place to put a bench,

The perennials start blooming first and come up at different times. I fill in the empty spaces with annuals once they grow enough. I have sooooo many seeds that I should open a gardening center. This photo was taken sometime during the summer.
I do have two benches.

@DianneN That's a lot of hours. Often the plant does better and sprouts more blooms when you cut a few off. I have the same problem. I wish I could get down and kneel so I could weed better. I just can't so I putter in the boxes and leave the heavy stuff to a hired helper.

@DianneN Yes. I couldn't think of the word deadhead. Thanks. I can't laugh about my dread of being on the ground. Both my knees are trashed. If I am on the ground I can't get up due to the horrible pain when I put weight on my knees. Just no.

Yuccas are nice but only if those pesky bugs they get don't eat the blooms. In deserts every single plant has it's pesky kritters tryin to eat em ..... I've put some sunflower seeds out but as yet they haven't sprouted

I'm with you, I don't know the names of anything. What kind of grass do I have in my yard? It's grass, that's all I know.
They are all beautiful!

That's lovely. Have you ever tried to grow a Bonzai Tree from seeds? I received a kit for a Christmas present and am trying but it looks sickly.
