How Last Night Ended

God bless all of you who care enough to read my ER updates. The final verdict is zero surprise to me. First, yesterday morning, I went to my pain management doctor only to find out he’s in Slovakia. No guys, he’s American, but his fiancée is from Slovakia so he took a vacation. A pity for all of us who need our medication called in. So I got to the ER at 1:15pm. An EKG, chest X-ray, lab tests, an IV of Magnesium, and more lab tests resulted in me stepping foot back inside my home at 9:30pm. Basically, my magnesium was low, and my potassium was slightly low. They want me to follow up with their cardiologist. I saw a cardiologist awhile back because I kept passing out due to low blood pressure. I did the heart monitor thing, and one test that made my eyes burn so bad they had to stop it. They found nothing. I predict I go (and I will) and they still find nothing. Which will not solve why my magnesium keeps dropping. But, I am enjoying taking more than two steps without huffing and puffing and having to bend over to keep from passing out. So, if this happens again, I’m going to the ER sooner rather than later. How did last night go for you?

I doubled my magnesium from 500mg a day to 1000mg a day. I hope that takes care of it.

Amoxicillin is tackling an abcessed tooth (and anything else that might be wrong) so I fell asleep easily and didn't wake until about 5am, peed, and went back to sleep for a few hours.

I'm glad you're a bit better. We will all remind you to go to the ER the next time this happens. I hope they can find the cause.

I really hope there won’t be a repeat of this. I’m doubling the amount of magnesium I had been taking. I am sick of this nonsense.

@ambiepam Horrible night for you. My son’s wife ended up in ER a few night ago and was kept in. Still in. She kept getting dizzy and light headed and ER now says she had been prescribed a ridiculously high dosage of something for a different complaint which in turn brought her BP dangerously low.

Thanks for the update. Sorry I missed it until now. I’m glad you went for more tests and are feeling better, but never put off going to the doctor or ER much sooner. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

wow, that is a long time in the E.R. I know they can take a long time though. Well hopefully you'll find out something and it won't be a waste of time....

I know those long hauls in the ER are not fun, not at all. And it sounds like you are indeed feeling better, but the problem isn't solved. I hope they can dig deeper into this in the very near future. Unfortunately, often the journey to wellness is so slow and frustrating!

Definitely a lot of testing for the outcome. Hopefully you are able to find a more long term solution, so this doesn't happen again.

Last night I was just too exhausted to even drop a line or two here in mylot. I can imagine your exhaustion having to go through all those tests only to find out it's still about your magnesium.

That is so frightening, and that after so much time and testing, they still are no closer to a diagnosis.
