I wrote about Vince making pasties for dinner one night. He used four sheets of pastry for four pasties then I rolled out the scraps and was able to get another two circles which gave us six pasties altogether. I then rolled out the rest of the scraps and make six jam tarts with them. Over my right shoulder you can see the rain gauge on the brick wall outside. In the left foreground you can see one pasty ready to go in the oven with more filling in the basin to the right. He wanted a funny photo to send to a friend in Thailand and this is up with what we came. @AmbiePam and @xFiacre will get the joke I’m sure.

Back when I first got married, my husband’s grandmother, who was a wonderful lady and loved me very much, came over with a new rolling pin. She gave it to me and said, if he gets out of hand, smack some sense into him with this! She was joking of course, but later on his Dad said to me one day, do you still have that rolling pin? I never considered using it on husband or anyone, of course but I think his Dad wanted to smack him with it!! Judy, you are a pretty lady.

Thank you for the compliment. I like my rolling pin. When I have to crush biscuits (cookies), I put them in a plastic bag and bash them with the rolling pin.

@MarieCoyle Some items are like that, aren't they? We can never get them out/see them without a memory coming back,

@JudyEv My rolling pin has made many things over the years. Pie crusts,, cut out cookie dough, crushed nuts for recipes, etc. I never get it out without remembering Grandma and the day she gave it to me.

Has Vince tried making pasties again since then? If he has, I hope he was satisfied with the next batch he made.

Thanks. I thought best to smile. No-one looks very good if they're frowning, particularly if they're armed with a rolling pin.

That's the one. It came up in a post of @AmbiePam's who hates ending sentences with prepositions and I had a response all ready but @xFiacre had already used it. lol
