Where have I been all day, and last night

I am going to try to make this short and sweet. Sorry for those who find it to be too much information.
WE had a busy weekend, and Monday and Tuesday as well. Bob slept poorly Monday night.
Wednesday, at various times of the day, Bob mentioned pain in his pacemaker/defibrillator site.
Monitoring issues he has had the last few weeks we are seeing primary often and getting lab checks often. When on the phone I asked the nurse if we should be concerned. She messaged primary who asked that we get him checked in the ER. It was not getting worse, nor better. He was having rhythms that indicate Afib, they thought maybe he device was trying to correct that.
Because of that and because his hemoglobin was going lower they said he had to transfer to a better equipped hospital. He went by ambulance to Newton Medical Center, a half hour away. He still was presenting with Afib .Hemoglobin continued to fall.
So today. No Afib. Hemoglobin still dropping. Some indication he MIGHT have a gastric bleed. His numbers required at least one transfusion. The nurses and the Hospitalist wanted a surgical consult to see if he needed colonoscopy and/or endoscopy. A stool sample was sent off looking for blood.
Report says no blood in stool
. Surgeon said even if he needed the scopes, he had to have his hemoglobin up and stable first and it could not be done prior to a heart cath because anesthesia would cause extra problems. He said it amounted to a bunch of medical professionals trying to cover all bases and solve a problem.
Cardiologist said that he is not in Afib any more.He believes the pain around the device site is nerve pain. Also said getting very tired could cause it and having low hemoglobin means of course you get very tired.(I asked about fatigue)
Bob was admitted as an inpatient and will be transfused as needed until his hemoglobin is up and stable. Priorities are to meet with the oncologist Monday for his report and recommendations. The hospitalist has seen the report from the bone marrow biopsy and she says it does not look bad.in her opinion. Our question is whether the bone marrow situation is causing the low hemoglobin.
If Bob's hemoglobin is high enough the heart catheterization is Tuesday.
Wednesday a representative from the VA is making a home assessment to determine if they will pay me to care for Bob and how much per hour how many hours per week. Thursday is free. Friday Bob gets his new hearing aid calibrated and can hear again.
Whew, we are busy. Thank you for your prayers and for caring

I don't know how you have coped with all this.
How is Bob bearing up?
That might be a stupid question Heather
You are indeed busy
Best wishes to Bob, and to you too, I know what this caring job entails

He was fine until he got hungry. He could not have anything to eat in case one doctor or another wanted to do surgery. I saw his blood pressure go higher than I ever have. Once he got food and got to order more food he settled down and napped. I think things will improve once we get this stuff handled. Bob actually like hospital workers and does his best to try to make them laugh or smile.

It's good that he is upbeat, that's what i was asking so it's really not all doom and gloom
Yvonne was similar, and hunger sent her bp rocketing as well.
I sure do hope Bob gets well soon, and this is all behind him
Why has there been the delay in the VA just acknowledging your role in all this.
That itself would reduce stress levels all round

Thank you for taking the time to keep us updated because you know we care. This must be incredibly stressful; so much I can’t imagine.
The state did for Hudson what the VA is assessing for you to do. They determined how much help Hudson was required to get, then “hired” my sister and/or BIL to watch him, take him to therapy…
Since they could hire anyone to do that, including themselves like they are currently doing, they tried to get my dad to retire near them. They’d hire my dad and he’d have a part time job to help with the bills. But I think my dad wants to stay here for awhile before he thinks about moving closer to family.

I'm glad things are being figured out and hope Bob will be okay. Keeping you both in my thoughts.
Remember, write down everything you do for Bob on an hourly basis. If he needs help getting dressed, needs help using the bathroom, if you do his dirty dishes, if you cook his meals, if you drive him anywhere, if he needs help getting in and out of the car, if you need to walk with him to the car, if he needs help showering, getting out of the tub, needs help drying off or combing his hair, if you help him shave... It all counts!

This all gets so complicated. However, it's good that the doctors are being so comprehensive.

Oh,
My!! That’s a lot to have happen in just a couple of days. I hope you can get some rest to be able to keep up with how stressful and worrying this all is. I will be praying for both you and Bob.
