Very Profitable Friday

Just returned from the consignment shop where I dropped off a pair of shoes and some clothes. I had a very nice amount of money waiting for me from last year’s sales. Hubs treated me to lunch afterwards.
My granddaughter posted a cute video on TikTok with her parents. I grabbed a screenshot of her from yesterday going to Cafe de Monde for their yummy beignets. They are delicious! My son called me this morning to let me know that our granddaughter received a $10,000 academic scholarship to Tulane. No one told me about it before.
Finally home about to have my Friday martini when a friend dropped by with 3 Chanel baseball caps for me! Too big for her head, so she thought of me! I guess she thought I had a pinhead, but they are adjustable.
. I offered to pay for them, but she refused. Must do something special for her before we leave Florida.
I guess good things can happen in threes, too. Do you use consignment shops?

Nope, never tried those shops, but we always shopped at second-hand places and often got good clothes that were maybe worn once, especially winter jackets and such. Congrats to your granddaughter on the scholarship. When are you going back to Connecticut?

I once bought a Chanel blouse in Scottsdale with the original price tag on for a song. Otherwise, I just drop off my old stuff and collect the money.
Thank you! My son was ecstatic. Wish he told me sooner so I could congratulate her in person.
We’re leaving here April 30th. My friends keep asking me when we’re coming back. I really can’t wait to get back. I’m itching to garden and see everyone again.

@DianneN yes, I have fond memories of the state. Where are you again, and are you far from Trumbull?

@RasmaSandra We aren’t far at all from Trumbull. We’re northwest of New Haven in Woodbridge.

Congratulations to your granddaughter. How wonderful for her. Maybe your granddaughter would enjoy one of those hats.

@celticeagle Aww, thank you! You can see the tan lines she obtained when she visited us. It was too cold in New Jersey

There are no consignment shops here and I doubt we'd have anything they'd be interested in selling.

@DianneN Mom bought a lot of our clothes from Goodwill when I was growing up. One of the shirts I liked turned out to have belonged to a guy I knew in school.

@rakski You bring in clean undamaged items, they set the price, and arrange them by sizes to sell to customers. They give you half the amount the items sell for and keep the rest. Some stores keep the higher priced items and donate to charity the things that don’t sell after a month.

Consignment shops are a great idea, but usually when stuff leaves my house it is too worn out to resell.

It is no trouble at all. I told the owner that I will come next year with Christian Louboutin shoes from home and other things I don’t wear anymore, and she couldn’t stop thanking me. I have other things she wants, but no one is ever getting them except my DIL and granddaughter. Those designer things are in high demand, especially these days, and you can make excellent extra cash.

No, last time I did..I am not sure anything got sold. The only ones I made money from were ones where I sold toys my son had outgrown. I used to sell on FB marketplace though. That worked out pretty well.

There is a consignment shop here in London called Love Luxury but I have never been. I watch them online though and it is fun watching all sorts of limited edition stuff getting bought and sold.
Your grand daughter is very pretty as she is smart! You must be very proud! Congratulations!

The shop I go to sells both luxury items and regular items. I never bought anything there, but many people do. Hope they buy all my items!
Thanks so much! We are all proud of her. My grandson is a genius and adorable, but gets a little cocky for his own good.

The coffee is strong at the Cafe de Monde
The donuts are too hot to touch
And just like a fool, when those sweet goodies cool

No, I haven’t tried a consignment shop.

You certainly make out well between the consignment shop and getting those baseball caps.

That's a cute picture. Congratulations to your granddaughter for the scholarship. I used a consignment shop once when my MIL passed. She had a lot of clothes with the tags still on them. I don't believe any of them sold.

Thanks so much! That extra money will certainly come in handy.
I hope you didn’t get scammed by the consignment shop! Did you ask them if they have any money for you?
My store didn’t have my phone number for some reason, but we straightened that out when I was in.

Thanks for that. But it’s not true
Snooping in thrift shops is always lots of fun, especially when you can find the perfect thing at a really good price!
