Back in my own bed

I slept in my own bed last night after having one night in hospital after a small operation on my throat. So far, I’ve only been having clear liquids but today I can have any liquids so it’s yummy soups, custards and yoghurts for me for the rest of the week then soft foods for the following week. The staff at the hospital were very kind and looked after me pretty well. I heard once that you don’t go to hospital for a rest but to get well. I can believe that as they woke me every few hours to take my ‘vitals’ – blood pressure, temperature and respiration. Anyway, I’m back in the land of the living but may not be too active here for a few days. My throat is quite sore and my head is thumping but I’m sure a day or two will make all the difference. Thanks for all the good wishes if I haven’t said so in other comments.

Glad to hear you’re back home, that must feel so much better. Take it easy for the next few days and let your body recover properly. Hope the soreness eases soon and you feel better soon

Thanks. And your advice is very good. A few days of doing nothing much will make all the difference.

I'm so glad you're in your own bed again. Surgery is never a fun experience no matter how minor.

Lots of ice cream, if you let it melt a little bit, is soft or liquid food. You should ask Vince to look and see if your grocery store there has Salted Caramel ice cream. It's delicious! I hope you get well quickly!

@JudyEv True, it has chunks of chocolate in it. Vanilla is my second favorite.

Salted caramel might have hard bits in it which aren't recommended yet but vanilla is pretty good too.

@JudyEv You’ll be glad that’s all behind you now. A diet of custard’s not so bad, just a pity it’s not alongside apple crumble. Soon perhaps.

We have a product called Yogo which is a chocolate dessert and slides down beautifully. Tomorrow I'm making vegetable 'like Mother used to make' with carrots, swede, turnip and parsnip. I'll blend it so it's nice and smooth.

That's great when YOU get to pick the liquid diet as opposed to the colonoscopy prep that's ONLY chicken broth and Gatorade without red coloring. Hope you're feeling great soon, and back to enjoying Vince's great cooking!!

I'm allowed jelly as long as it's not red or green. I'm not sure why that is. I'm feeling better today which is good.
