What a difference an extra fan makes.

So, I mentioned the other day my air conditioning is on the fritz. In Oklahoma this time of year it is hot, humid, and disgustingly muggy. I have a fan, but it wasn’t doing much. I borrowed my dad’s, which he told me just to keep, and what a difference it made. It’s a tower fan that rotates, but I keep it pointed straight at me. I’m still going to bug the apartment manager (and complain to housing if it takes long) to fix the air conditioner, but for now I’ll be good. It’s not cold, but it’s more than bearable.
A couple of years ago it took 18 days to fix my air conditioner in the middle of May, and it was miserable. I couldn’t even complain because they needed to get on the roof, and it was raining and storming. Plus, the part they needed was taking forever to arrive. I remember my friend coming over, talking to me, and in the middle of the conversation simply yelling, “It’s so hot!” I had the fan on me at the time. I encouraged her to come sit by me because I loved her, but I wasn’t moving the fan to face her.
She knows I get sick in the heat, so she understood.
What kind of fans do you have? Do you use them often? How many of you are lucky enough to have ceiling fans?

I have a big fan just in case, but Reynaud’s is a good thing to have in the summer. All I have to do is drink something cold or make some of that fake sorbet and BANG, I’m shivering.
I do have a little tabletop fan that has a timer on it (think Honeywell makes it). Love having that on at night.

I have all kinds of fans. They really do improve the impact of the air conditioning. I have two new ceiling fans in boxes, just waiting for my new handy person to come put them in, when he is not at his full time job, or farming. It will be soon, though. I need to turn on the box fan I have here in the office.

Girl, you have got to get out of that place...no matter what it takes. Maybe the church or your family could take up a collection for you to move to a tiny house or something. It is ridiculous what they expect you to put up with there. I have ceiling fans,in almost every room and a big tower fan, plus a small fan. I also have a dehumidifier which comes in handy during the summer..it is a small one, but removes a ton of water from the atmosphers. Actually I should probably plug that in now..although It isn't very humid at the moment. Maybe I will wait until I can feel it.

I am so happy that I have a/c but also have fans in the other rooms as well. Living room we have a tower fan that really helps circulate the cool air and not have the a/c running 100% of the time. The bedrooms have ceiling fans which I wouldn't be able to live without. I can't sleep if it's too hot.
Hope they can get your a/c fixed so you don't have to deal with all that heat. Complain ! Complain! Complain

We put our CT a/c on yesterday for the first time since last summer just to make sure it works. It does, but we’re having it checked. I think we should get a new one, because I don’t want to be in the situation you were in. We have several fans which we keep for an emergency. We replaced our family room ceiling fan with a crystal chandelier when we had the room redecorated for aesthetics.

We have ceiling fans but never turn them on. The one in my bedroom hasn't worked since we moved into this house ten years ago. (The pull string is broken off inside the fan motor and I don't know how to take it apart and fix it.) I have a stand fan at the foot of my bed that I only shut off during the coldest part of the winter. We keep the air running 24/7 at 74F.
When Pretty put her new bed together and it put her up almost to the ceiling in her bedroom, she took the blades off her ceiling fan and switched it off. She was afraid she'd bonk her head on the ceiling fan in there.

We don’t have a/c here. We have a stand electric fan and we use it every summer for just a few weeks. For now, it is in the cellar waiting for the hot summer. It is still cold here although it is already May. Last year we had a hot May month. I hope summer will come soon. I am looking forward to not having to use socks.

I would definitely be bugging the manager to be honest. Hopefully they fix quickly.
We do have a couple of fans and we put an a/c unit in our room. But I'm thinking it couldn't hurt for us to invest in a few more fans and/or another a/c unit or something.

That sounds rough, I'm sorry.
I keep a small 18 inch fan on when I am working.
My little office needs to have the air moved, the monitors and laptop kick off a fair bit of heat.
I even use it in the wintertime.
I hope that they are able to make the repairs without you having to wait so long again.

We have five ceiling fans. The one in the sun room though stop working, but we hardly go in there. The one in my bedroom though shakes when it is on and I don't like that. I hardly use it. We also have stand fans.

I have a Dyson tabletop fan on the bedside table for when I need it. I also have a small random tabletop one that I keep pointed at me here at the table. I'm too old to try to muscle it out with crazy heat/humidity but I do try to keep the windows open and fan on as often as I can.

I have a ceiling fan in the living room which helps quite a bit; but I did finally turn the AC on yesterday. I would be complaining to management about fixing your AC.
