An update on Yvonne's appointment

May 21, 2026 2:25pm CST
Ok, as promised here is an update on how Yvonne got on today at her appointment. She has not got cancer. But The blood tests did show what we already knew from tests done in about 2008 Yvonne does Indeed have Cystic Fibrosis - not a carrier , but both faulty genes making it the full blown condition We already knew. We knew her heritage, her bloodline and everything else the blood tests all those years ago showed up. The combination of faulty genes Yvonne has , is very rare - shared by only a handful of people globally. What difference will knowing this make to Yvonne and her future care. Well one tablet per day extra because most of the medications for CF and COPD overlap. The doctor was very pleased with her today. Her saturations were 98% Her BP normal Her Heart rate excellent And her weight quite healthy although up on 6 months ago So that's the update Thanks to everyone who responded to my last post. Yvonne saw what was said and has asked me.to thank you all. The image is from 2004 in Amsterdam Those were the.days....

It is better news than we expected But we didn't expect to be told something we already knew - which the doctor didn't seem to be aware of

@Juliaacv I told the doctor if he read the screen it would mention Armenia and a Jewish Heritage He did, and nodded.

I think somewhere someone was negligent - how could thos CF diagnosis from all those years ago not be on her current records And why when it was discovered all those years ago was it never followed up Especially given Yvonne had 2 children die because of Cystic Fibrosis Questions need to be answered

I am so glad Yvonne has no cancer, good news for sure, now she can relax. Old photos are so precious Old photos are precious, this one is my husband and I on the sofa of my parents in July 1971, trying to hide from my nosy brothers.

Yvonne does cope well but she needs a lot of prompting and me nagging her to keep the routine going But she does know she has to do so And now we are on holiday again after a long winter she sees the benefits of me being somewhat strict about her medication I wouldn't change my caring style lol and I don't think Yvonne would have me change it

Well she won't ever recover because both CF and COPD are real ling function eroders If anything it will eventually become quite terrible, it only ends one way sadly The photo, we were both 43 or 44 in that photo
