At Home enjoying My Mortage!

Torrington, Connecticut

For anyone who askes me what I'm doing this summer my answer is simple, funny and true. Everything is soo expensive nowadays that this summer il be at home enjoying my mortgage lol. I setup my backyard comfortable enough that I don't need to go anywhere, I have my grill and smoker, in ground pool open and running and that's more than enough me. So if anyone ask where I'm at this summer, il be home enjoying the fruits of my labor lol.

Years ago, when we bought our home in Switzerland, we did the same, we vacationed in our garden and it was a great vacation.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX Good idea, we installed a hot tub in the garden and it was better than a pool and a lot less expensive.

It sounds like you have a good idea. My family has a cruise planned in October, but that’s just because we were supposed to go September 2025, and our flights were canceled. So this has been paid for, thankfully.

I understand that one completely. Someone actually asked me what I was doing for summer this year and honestly I haven't been asked that since I was in school. I replied that I will be doing what I always do, train, work, clean and maybe find time to be with friends lol. Special plans stopped happening a long time ago.

Sounds like a great plan, and to be honest it's the best. Things are so expensive out there, so it's best to find ways to enjoy yourself indoor.

I think most people have the mindset that taking a vacation isn’t practical right now, since everything is so expensive and it’s not easy to travel around and enjoy different places.

No worries about packing for you. It sounds like a wonderful way to enjoy your time off this summer, and you'll be right there with your family the entire time. That is a win-win to me.

That is not bad at all, Back in Latvia we mostly spent time in our garden in the summer and had a small pool in which we could cool off on hot days it was like our little paradise,

@BACONSTRIPSXXX Get some of it in the stock market. lol. You won't get rich off equity, you know. At least not from one house. Or, I should say, get MORE of it in the stock market.

supporting you. people going on vacations every year, that things are changing now and realistically, even before, people didn't go often but it sort of spreaded like everyone was going, which isn't true. i used to go to one day trips at sea but i feel tired travelling by bus 2times in a day and, i don't like crowds in summer so, for 2nd summer now, i'm hanging at my apartment and love when city is empty in july.

Understandable! Thankfully, I’ve lived in my house for 37 years (made the first payment 37 years ago today!), so it’s paid off. I can enjoy NOT having a mortgage payment.
