Extra Food

So I order my groceries to be delivered, and today when I went outside to get them (they leave them at your door without talking to you if you want), I saw I had extra: two cases of Lipton green tea and a huge box of French toast sticks (my own order was there too). Now, getting someone else’s items has happened before and when I contacted them to inform them, they said to keep everything because they can’t take food back once it leaves the employee’s possession.
So, I took the French toast in so it wouldn’t thaw, and I guess I’ll keep it for when I’m low on food. I’m sure it’s good, but I can’t eat that much sugar without feeling sick. I don’t want the Lipton tea either for the same sugary reason. I think I can take those to the food bank. You know, because that’s what food banks need…unhealthy beverages. Anyway, at least it won’t go to waste.
Do you like any of that stuff? Do you ever get anyone else’s food, whether it be online groceries, fast food, or anything else?

It actually makes sense that they tell you to keep food items once delivered. I guess from a safety standpoint they cannot really take groceries back and give them to someone else. Still, it always feels strange ending up with random items you never planned on having.

They make mistakes on our deliveries too. We sometimes get extra things and sometimes we are missing things.

You know we order food from Wally World and my brother picks our order up and brings it to us when I can't see to drive. We have gotten fresh fried chicken twice that we didn't order and once, got a case (36) of hamburgers we didn't order. They told us to keep the foods because they couldn't take it back once it was at our door.
You would think they'd double check the ordered foods before they left the store but they don't.
We take all kinds of stuff to the local food bank. As long as it hasn't been opened and isn't out of date, they'll take it and pass it on to people who want it/need it. (They can't take fried chicken because it came hot and ready to eat. I stripped the chicken off the bones and froze it until we were ready for some pasta with chicken in it. It worked well for that.) The case of hamburgers were fine for us to just stick in the deep freezer and used when I didn't feel like cooking.
You could ask your dad if anybody at the church would drink the tea and send it or take it to them. You could also just eat a little of the French toast at a time with other meals. It will stretch your food supplies out further without you needing to eat enough of it to make you sick.

I kept the green tea outside for an hour because I couldn’t lift them. When I went back out, they were gone. I know that means my awful neighbor probably stole them, but I’m also holding out the hope the guy broke the rule, came back up to my door, saw I hadn’t taken them inside, and grabbed them to take them to their rightful owner.
Also, I’m getting a doorbell camera.

Don't think I have gotten someone else's food before but at least not recently. Hopefully someone can use the beverages.

I had left them outside my door for an hour because I couldn’t lift them. When I went back out, they were gone. I willfully choose to believe the man came back in hopes I hadn’t taken them inside. I willfully choose not to believe one of my neighbors stole them.

I'm sure the food bank will love those Lipton teas. Plenty of people drink them who don't have to worry about the sugar. Maybe your dad would like the French Toast sticks?
That happened to me recently. I got an extra bag filled with all sorts of fresh veggies (cauliflower, carrots, broccoli slaw, asparagus). I was told the same thing to just keep the bag.

I don't get my groceries delivered, as there are so many times I am not sure we will be here or not, so it's not practical for us. I have written on here about Walmart grocery deliveries I have gotten that I never ordered at all, but arrived home to discover on my porch, twice as I recall. It was summertime and very hot, both times. The person had ordered meats, frozen foods, ice cream, etc...all of which had to be trashed as they were melted, unthawed, and/or hot. When I called Walmart both times, of course they said to keep the items, but there wasn't much to keep. I do recall keeping some paper towels and TP, and some canned items. I felt bad that so much went to waste, I was told that Walmart would replace the foods for the person who ordered them, but sheesh...what a waste.

When Walmart first started delivering, they were awful. I’d rarely get my orders right, and sometimes I wouldn’t get them at all. And, back then, it was so difficult to get a refund. Now, I can get a refund without even talking to someone. It takes about five minutes. However, now, after a year break of not using them, they are much more accurate. At least at getting me MY things. Today was rare to get extra.

The last time I was in Walmart, I observed two ''shoppers'' gathering food orders together. They don't use regular carts much for this anymore. They were using these rolling racks, with big baskets--8-10 baskets for that many different orders at one time. The person I was watching while gathering my few items was talking on a phone, holding another phone and using it for the orders, etc. NO WONDER the orders are wrong. Good grief!
