Mental Reset*

A good friend of mine noticed I was a bit irritable at work and suggested I take a mental health day to recharge and refocus my energy. Taking a mental health break is simply the act of stepping away from daily stressors to give your mind a chance to rest and reset. It doesn’t have to be dramatic or long it can be as small as a quiet afternoon, a walk outside, turning off notifications for a while, or taking a day off to do nothing demanding. The idea is to create space where your brain isn’t constantly processing pressure, expectations, or emotional overload. Just like the body needs rest after physical effort, the mind also needs downtime to recover from stress and anxiety. So this Friday I took off and have no plans other than to wake up and do what makes me happy. Might just go to the beach and relax with my feet in the sand for a few hours.

That sounds like a plan! Also, you might want to consider what is making you irritable and work around a so it doesn't affect you so much.

That’s very generous of your employer to recognize that you needed that extra dayoff for your mental health. How l wish many employers would recognize that and not wait until any employee would reach burnout.

Yeah I have over 90 hours of paid time off as well, they let me use my sick days for whenever I need a day off

It helps, I know that I need to have some "me" time and relax. It's very hard to take care of my husband with dementia and sometimes I realize my patience is not enough.

I hope your day off and away from the people at work helps. I know doing things like that always worked for me.

A mental health day is essential at times. I’m glad you could take one. More people should instead of getting burnout.

I'm a firm believer that everyone needs a mental health day so I'm happy that you're taking off on Friday to relax and destress. Enjoy whatever you decide to do or not do
