Is June a wedding month in your country?

June is known as wedding month, or is it? My friend got married in June and skipped all the wedding fuss - no big celebration, no extravagant spending, just straight to the marriage part. Meanwhile, my aunt, who owns a bridal gown shop, is probably grateful not everyone follows my friend’s example. Speaking of wedding, found this photo that looks like a wedding scene at first glance... until you take a closer look. P.S. Hi myLot peeps! How’s everyone doing? Just letting you know I’m still around, barely keeping up with these wild gas prices and life in general. Don’t worry, no rant today - I’m just dropping by to say hello.

I didn't like big celebrations. Just a small, simple and intimate wedding for me

Completely agree, big weddings sound exhausting! When was the last time you had to dress up and go to a wedding?

Yes, June is the most popular month for weddings here in the States too. My sister chose July though, and my parents chose August. If I ever get married, I’m choosing a cold weather month.

@sol_cee I’d go February. Here in Oklahoma, it doesn’t get cold until January.

@AmbiePam February is the month of love here, thanks to Valentine’s Day, so a lot of couples choose to get married during this month. Some cities also hold "Kasalan ng Bayan" (mass weddings), where couples can have a free wedding ceremony sponsored by the city and officiated by the mayor

I like that idea! Cooler weather, cozy vibes, and no worries about melting in the heat. Which cold month are you thinking?

I was working as a dressmaker here in the Philippines 45 years ago and I remember being so busy making wedding dresses for June Brides… But in Australia, Weddings are normally held during the months from September to April…high are warmer months..

@sol_cee Yes, I summoned you for sure. Most marriages were in May, it comes from ancient traditions. May in the north of Europe was the month of the God Freya, the Goddess of Love.

In the US, it's because schools get out in May so a wedding can be planned for beautiful May weather. I haven't seen you in a while. I hope you're doing well.

Oh, that explains a lot! I didn’t think about the school calendar being a reason. Nice weather definitely makes June a good choice for weddings.

Hello! Yes, schools here get out in May so a lot of weddings happen in June. Big parties, lots of noise and happy people driving around the city honking their car/truck horns sometimes with the police following them with sirens blaring. I'm always happy to see you back on myLot!

@sol_cee I'm not doing my best at the moment but hoping I can get back to myLot soon. Sorry I'm missing all the fun while you're around. My eyes are burning and I know I've been confused lately... Pretty says I have to expect being confused since that goes along with hydrocephalus. She's trying to get me in to see another neurologist since the one assigned to me won't see me until September.

@DaddyEvil Aww, I was wondering where you'd been.I Im sorry to hear you're dealing with all that. September sounds like a long wait, so I hope Pretty can get you in to see another neurologist much sooner. Take care of yourself and don't worry about missing the fun here - we'll still be around when you're feeling better

Yo, mah men, how are you? I think I’ve seen something like that in a movie - the cars honking, everyone celebrating, and the whole city joining in. It must be quite a sight to see in real life! And today I just woke up with the feeling that I wanted to visit myLot again.

True that! I guess any month can be special when it’s the right time for the couple. The budget probably decides more than the calendar sometimes. Although I do know some couples who put a lot of thought into the actual date. I have a friend who got married on 8-9-10 (Aug. 9, 2010) because they just loved how the numbers lined up.

@sol_cee Exactly. People sometimes can be too reactive when it comes to their wedding. They put so much effort into planning, like picking a memorable date, a party theme, etc. They end up leaving themselves with a lot of debt just for one day. The worst part is that they end up getting divorced. People like that are just too much. LOL

I don’t know, but being a June bride somehow sounds extra special compared to being a January bride or an October bride.

I had a civil wedding in June and a church wedding in August. The June ceremony was mostly to make our partnership official, while the church wedding was more ceremonial so we could invite our relatives. Since the civil wedding was so simple, we didn’t have any celebrations then.
