Hudson (my ten year old nephew) just got his new wheelchair. Can you tell how much he’s grown? Anyway, he outgrew his last one, and it was an ordeal getting insurance to push this one through finally. You may remember he has psoriatic and rheumatoid arthritis. So he can walk, but it’s important for him not to overdo it. Here’s a picture of him getting used to it at physical therapy appointment. Has everyone been to physical therapy at least once in their life? Hey @NJChicaa my sister says this looks like a Chandler Bing plays tennis outfit.

I have been treated for an illness on my lower leg around Thanksgiving last year which required me to a walking cane.

He is thriving with your family's care. It is often hard to get insurance to do the minimum for our kiddos in the way of equipment.

Aww, just look at him. I'm glad he has what he needs. As of yet, I have not had to do PT. As I get older, I'm sure that could change, especially with as klutzy as I am; I'm sure I'll eventually injure myself or have something happen that could make it something I'll need.

Insurance paid for me to get my own tens machine, so I’m glad I can do that without having to go into a facility. That was the best thing physical therapy ever did for me.

@AmbiePam It's great that it did that for you. It's hard to say what insurance will and won't pay for.

Yes, insurance is a royal pain in the behind when it comes to even the simplest things. We were blessed to get the application for my mom’s “companion chair” (one with four wheels of the same size that has to be pushed by someone else, not the two big wheels like in the photo that the person in the chair can manipulate) approved without having to file any appeals. I still have the chair, too…just in case.

No I haven't yet! Glad he got a chair that fits him better. It must be a real pain to be squeezed into one that's too small!

Quite a great looking set of wheels he's got now. He must be so very coordinated to work one of those, I think that I would be running into anything within a few feet of me if I were driving myself around.

Just now
No, I've never had physical therapy. The only times I've had problems (until lately) was when I had carpal tunnel surgery at around 25 years old and when I had an emergency appendectomy when my appendix ruptured when I was 12 years old. I do use a quad-cane now when I walk very far. I'm sorry he needs the wheelchair, though.
