Do you like your last name?

I really like my last name. I have often thought if I did get married I would keep it instead of changing it to my husband’s. Not as a form of feminism, simply because I like the name, but also I’m proud of the family it represents.
Back when I was about to go to college, I met my roommate’s mother, and she said she had hoped her daughter would room with me once she found out I was going to college early. I asked her why as she didn’t know me, and she said she had met some of my dad’s family including my dad, and knew I’d be a good influence on her daughter. That made me feel good.
How about you? Do you like your last name?

I loved my maiden name and still do. When I married people just automatically changed their name and never kept their own. When we divorced, I really wanted to change it back. But, I gave it a lot of thought, the kids knew it was coming, and we were trying to navigate the future. I didn’t want my children to think I was ashamed of the last name we all shared, so in the end I just kept what I had. Long story but it just seemed to be the best thing to do at the time.

I can understand that. Diana had changed her last name back to her maiden name after the divorce from her first husband, and my dad told her not feel like she had to change hers to his. However, she went ahead and changed her name. I don’t know that I would have bothered.

I like my last name too, and I’m glad that as a male I won’t have to change it when I get married. I’m proud to carry this family name because my father made it well-known at the school where he worked, and his name was even honored by naming a building after him. That makes me one proud son to continue carrying his last name.

Not really. So ordinary and common. Though I suppose it has an anonymous quality that's good.

We do not change anymore our maiden name to our husband's name here in Italy. We can add the last name of our husband, it's not more . I like a lot mine because it's only 4 letters, the one of my husband was 9 letters.
So until I lived in Switzerland the last name of my husband was always added, not here.

Just now
That's a good question. I always hated my last name growing up because nobody knew how to say it (it's German).
But my married name is much better
