I’ve Finally Had Enough

Some of you may remember my unfortunate journey with my current pain management doctor. My previous one, a dream of a doctor, died unexpectedly years ago. My current one has given me fits, but I won’t go into the biggest reason why I wouldn’t switch. Two people on Mylot asked me, I told them, and they actually had the nerve to say it was no big deal. It was a huge deal, but that was the last time I confided my biggest problem with him.
But you might remember him not showing up, calling my prescription into the wrong pharmacy, and going more than a week before calling it into the right one. Ending up in Slovakia one day and the staff informing us in the office he’d call for a virtual visit that never came.
Last month his certification with my insurance had lapsed, and you might remember my dad had to pay (cause I couldn’t ) $426 because of that. We were going on vacation, and there was really no other choice. So you figure in the month since the doctor finally got that worked out, right? Nope. Today, it still wasn’t resolved. This time, I told him to write the prescription for a lesser pain medication that was only $116 out of pocket. That way I wouldn’t have to bother my dad again.
So I’m done with him. I’m going to hope what kept me from changing earlier won’t matter, but it’s gotten too ridiculous to keep going to him. Hopefully, the waiting list won’t be as long as I think, but if I have to go without, then I have to go without.
Wish me ”luck”!

You are very justified in your decision. He was more pain than help.

Are there really myLotters that talk to you like that? Yes, from what you've described, it's time to move on from Dr. McButthead.

Good luck. I think it’s ridiculous that their certification to take a certain insurance company can just stop. Seems weird. lol. I hope the next one is better.

@AmbiePam I’m sure there’s a lot of rules and regulations and stuff. But I still think it’s silly.

Wishing you all the best in this journey. I never asked why you would not change, but if it is something you think is a big deal, then it is a big deal.

You deserve a better doc for sure. I know you wouldn't be excited about going there...but you aren't too far from Okalahoma City right? Maybe you could find somebody there that cared and wasn't a pain in the butt. You don't deserve this.

He was actually in Oklahoma City because there was no one in Norman who didn’t have a tremendous waiting list. However, I got a new name for a pain management doctor from my radiologist friend today, and they said their waiting list is almost non existent. I have to see my primary care in the morning anyway so I’ll ask her to send a referral to this new clinic. If this works out, it could be the best “doctor” thing to happen for me in awhile. I’m cautiously optimistic.

@AmbiePam That's wonderful you don't have to wait! I have to tell you that is one thing I do appreciate about being in a small community..not only is it safer, and a lot of the people are nicer..but you rarely have to wait for anything, except perhaps the grocery store or Subway and my doc initially. Post office lines are very short, you can generally get in quickly in most places. Yay to no wait!!

I would be reporting him to my insurance company for sending the prescription to the wrong pharmacy (that still causes people money.) You can also leave reviews online, and if he works for a group, you can report him to the head of the physicians group he works for.

He truly seems like a very poor excuse for a doctor. I hate to think of you going without the medication you truly do need!! I will be praying there is another doctor that can help you.

I am sorry to hear it is been that bad with that doctor. And I hope it will not be a very long wait. I can understand being done with them when it has been that way, especially so long
