I make most of mine though I sometimes get in a crunch and have to buy a package due to the large amount I send out. But this year I am ahead of schedule? LOL..So do you still send out Christmas cards? Have you gotten your's in the mail yet?

Ok I'm bad and I know it. No I don't send them out. Some I do but then some I don't. Mostly I don't I give them at the house with there gift of money in it. Or I just put one on a box for them. Like my son and my little great niece she loves cards and so does my son at his age of 18. He thinks it is cool to get a card on his gift as well. Your friend onlydia

We send out a few cards, but not as many as we used to. I just send to close family members mostly. A few friends that live out of town also.

I do and I love to get them in the mail (normal mail not e-mail) I hate electronic cards and I dont count them, if someone sends me one of them I send them one back why bother sending them a real one. Most of mine have been send but I am holding on to the one for Australia as its a bit early and considering that orhodox christmas is in January I dont want to be the first one that sends mine out.

Hey there. I am so impressed that you make your own Christmas cards. That sounds like fun, but only if they turn out okay. In my case, I'm better off just to buy a box of already made cards. And, yes, I still send out Christmas cards, 61 this year. I mailed them on December 16th this year. I like getting them out by the 15th but didn't quite make it this time. I write individual letters to about 30 of the people as it's the only time I make contact with them. I enclose the letters with their cards. For another 25 or 30 card recipients, I enclose a "family newsletter" that I design, write, and print. The last 10 or so cards just get the cards. Anyhoo, I just heard this year that many people say that Christmas cards are wasteful and not good for the environment. Usually, I buy my Christmas cards for the next year the day or 2 after Christmas in the big sales to get a good deal on them. But, I haven't bought them yet because I'm considering not sending them next year. What do you think about this? I'm sort of in to the "going green" thing, and I guess sending out 61 cards with at least one other sheet in them is, in a sense, "wasting" paper.

I like doing the green thing too...but first and foremost in my life are my friends and family...so I'll still be wasting paper next year! Though some of my card I use wallpaper from the books they throw out every month at the wallpaper and paint stores....I think my "green" thing this year will be using the bags I got in my stocking. My daughter (who is related to Santa) got them at Claires...they are hot pink..and all folded up into a little tiny bag that fit nicely into your purse...I already used them when I went shopping and didn't bring all those gastly bags home from the stores....it was fun actually!

I like what you are saying about the importance of family. Also, over half the cards I send out are friends who live far away and former co-workers. It's the only time I contact them and I just hate to stop doing it. Your little pink bags sounds so cute! And handy, too. I don't like those plastic bags either, and they say they never biodegrade. So, I cut my plastic store bags up, tie them in long lengths, roll them up in a ball, then knit tote bags with them. I knit them with 2 strands: one is the plastic bag strips, the other is a strong, cotton yarn that's colorful. They make very strong bags and look pretty neat. I keep the bags in the car so that I just grab them when I go in to the store. I've only got 2 made, but I've got plenty of supplies to make more. In fact, I've already wound in to "balls" some white bags from Walmart and some brownish beige bags from our local grocery store.

I just found my stash of Christmas cards that I purchased on clearance last year. Now if I can only put myself to the task of addressing them and adding a note or two to each of them. ~sigh~ We have no stamps so I have to wait until next paycheck to purchase them. Maybe next week.

I haven't sent out Christmas cards in years. Am just too lazy but will buy special cards for our kids and other important relatives. Our kids send them out but they buy them also. We started receiving cards yesterday and usually get a good amount. End up taping them to the closet door so when someone walks in the front door, they are staring them right in the face. I love this time of the year even though it can be a little hectic with shopping and gifts. It's what to decide to buy that bugs the life out of me!

I don't send cards out to a lot of people, but I do send cards to some people. I don't get all that many either. I think that the number of people sending out Christmas cards is getting fewer and fewer every year.

Nope not usually. well wait.. my mother in law sends me one from herself, and one from each of my own kids.. and one from my step son.. so from her i get 4 cards for every occassion.. I think its cause i told her i dont like them.. its her little way of subtly annoying me. . the same as how i told her i hate mint. . every year at xmas i'm the only one that gets mint in their xmas presents.. WTF.

I do send them, but I haven't sent them out yet. I like to send cards in the mail for Christmas to make it more personal. I usually send them out around the 10th of December. There is a woman I know who always sends her Christmas cards out the day after Thanksgiving. This year I got one in the mail from her the day before Thanksgiving! I have nice Christmas cards this year especially. Last year I went to the after Christmas sale at T.J. Maxx. Normally even their stuff is too expensive for me. But these awesome Hallmark cards were on sale for $2.50! I bought and saved them to hand out this year. I'm glad I was able to do that.

This discussion was before Christmas but I am going ahead and responding to it. I do send out Christmas cards and love doing it. I don't make mine but when I go to buy the ones I am going to send I take a long time picking them out. And I always write something in the card personal also. I love sending them out because it lets people know you are thinking about them.
