The First Snowfall...

Well, winter is just around the corner…I can feel the snow in the air here in Missouri. We’re pretty well set for winter…just have to stock up a few more foods. I’m thinking we’ll have our first big snowfall before Thanksgiving…then I’ll be holing up for the winter. I love the look of snow outside but I don’t like going out in it. Thankfully I’ve already gotten my flu shot and I go shopping tomorrow so then we’re all set. When do you think you’ll get your first snowfall? Are you looking forward to it or dreading it? Do you like winter? Do you hole up or love to go out in it? **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

We got our first snow fall Halloween morning. The kids had to wear winter clothes for trick or treating again this year. I keep hoping they'll get a break and have a warm day, the day before wasn't bad and the week before we even had 60s. The snow didn't stay but the icy wind came through in the afternoon and during the evening.

I hate the winter weather and that is why I moved to Puerto Rio. I never have to deal with cold or snow again. Good luck and hope its not to cold or snowy in Missouri this year.

IF we are lucky, or is that unlucky... we might get one in Feb... I like the cold, to a point, but hate going out on icy roads, not that we have a lot of that stuff, last snow was in 2006

One reason I live in the desert is that I don't like winter. Here it is safe to travel any time. Sometimes I "hole up" anyway, but not because of the weather. We do get to see snow on top of the nearby mountains, however, and that is pretty, as long as it stays up there.

Hi twoey~ It has gotten extremely cold very suddenly here in NY. Last night was the first "frost/freeze". I had to do some errands today and the temperature was 35 degrees when I went out around 11AM. I have to walk to do my errands so it was quite chilly and I really can't take the cold or walk as fast as I used to because of my arthritis and my knee and ankle problems. But, did what I had to in about an hour and was happy to get back inside where I had to change over my Summer clothes and take out the Winter clothes. My bf has one closet in the bedroom and I have the other and we share the draws so not an easy task, since I have more stuff then him. Tomorrow I will go to vote and finish up the bottom of the closet which is taking out the boots and putting away the sandals! I think it is going to be another very cold winter here! I try to stay inside as much as possible!

Hi Opal! Our weather here in Virginia is just like yours. It was summer until last week when it suddenly became winter. Where the heck did Fall go??? It's 31 degrees right now and has been in the lower 30's since last week, at least at night. It's in the 50's during the day. It came on so fast that I had to do the same as you, pull out all the winter clothes and put the summer ones away, hoping that it doesn't warm up again. I usually keep one pair of shorts and a summer blouse out, just in case. This weather lately has been crazy, hasn't it?

Hi MW! Yup, we are having exactly the same weather! I think we usually do, only you usually get it worse when it comes to snow! We really don't live that far apart. I don't think we will be getting back to the warmer temps this time, but I did leave a couple of tee shirts out just in case, but no way shorts will be worn anytime soon! Tomorrow I will be taking out the boots just in case...

We got our first snowfall here in Indiana about a week ago but it was not very much. It did cover the grass and the trees which made it pretty to look at but thats about all. The next day we had sun and highs in the 60's so the snow did not last very long. I could stand snow for Christmas day and thats all. I am not much of a snow person at all. I dont ski or anything so snow is just a burden to me.

It is 98* here all week in So Calif. I'd be thrilled for just a few rain drops! We usually don't get winter out here until after the first of the year. Longest stretch of time ever, between now and then!!! Enjoy your snow!!!

I woke up Saturday morning (11/6) to see a few tiny round balls of snow scattered on my garage roof and my neighbor's car so I guess we've already gotten our first touch of snow. I don't think it will snow substantially till the end of the month or even December. The almanac says this month's precipitation will be below average. I love the snow, too, if I don't have to drive in it! This is supposed to be a fairly dry winter here in Ohio.

Snow? We might see some on the hills near here, but it's unlikely that it will get as low as our house... Winter, brrrrr..... Is it over yet?

Im in Colorado. Its a dry climate here. I love it. Most the time when you hear its snowing it up in the mountians. If it snows down here it usually melts with in the week. We ae known as the sunshine state. I moved here from Iowa about 12 yrs ago and claim this as my home. Home sweet home. COLORado.

Hello twoey :D I finally got to you on the list of friends and i will be busy with all them topics i missed :D I like the snow in winter, especially at Christmas and new year's time - a white Christmas - count me as a fan, and also my girlfriend. In the past few years the snow almost lacked, but at least it snowed at some point either in December or January. As for this year, we had the first snowfall this Friday, when i was getting to get tickets to the cinema for Harry Potter, but it was only present in my neighborhood, because as i reached the mall the sun was out and no sign of snow at all.

Despite the fact that I actually like snow, I'm defintely not ready to see it yet this year. Last year there was enough of it to last me for a few years. That said, here in Central Kentucky we really could see our first tracking snow any time now. There have been times that there's been snow on the ground for Halloween and other times that we haven't seen snow until January. My prediction though, December 4 just in time for my daughter's eighth birthday.

I love winter and I love snow! We should be getting ours soon, too, hopefully before Thanksgiving. We've had a long, warm fall here this year, though, so it may be later. We often get snow before Halloween, but not this year. When it snows, I bake bread and make soup and drink hot chocolate... maybe the reason I like it is because it's time for comfort food! I noticed most of the pictures I keep are of snowy or wintry weather.

I look forward to it myself, as when it snows it feels peaceful around winter. It's odd when it snows in the summer but I do still like it, it's just a nice in my opinion. Much better than snow and you can actually have some great fun with the snow, on the other hand it does tend to become very slippy and you have to watch out for where kids have been skidding but I'm generally good at that.

I definitely hole up when the weather starts to cool down because I hate it when it’s freezing! I’m in Australia and here the weather is turning hot, in fact it is around 36 degrees Celsius today and summer is not even here yet! We don’t get snow here, ever and I remember going skiing with my parents when we lived in Italy near the Swiss border. I would enjoy snow provided I was very warmly dressed although winter is still not my favourite season! Have lots of hot chocolate and enjoy good books near the fire!
