While visiting my dad, I went with my step mom to the Y and attended a water aerobics class. I loved it! I have not been in years! Do you have any kind of health club membership? What do you do there?

I used to belong to a health club, I don't anymore. We belong to our park district that has a membership and lessons for kids. We've had the girls in classes there. It's awesome. I absolutely love my park district. There is so much for kids to do in Joliet. We also had a membership at the Y when Abby was young. I don't know...we've thought about doing that again.

I actually have a membership to the "Y". Water aerobics is the best work out that I enjoy. I do half hour on the treadmill, work out on other machines for thirty minutes then do the water aerobics. I've slacked off lately but it's time to get back into it!!!!

I was that way in my thirties, and early forties, then a few things in the way of life happened. It is time to get back.

Lucky you!! That was nice of her to take you along. I don't have a health club membership, they're wayyyyyyyyy too costly out where I live (and then I'd have to drive forever to get to one.) I would LOVE to be able to have one though. The Dr says it'd be good excercise now that I have arthritis, etc. Good for you, I'll just bet that water felt good and refreshing. I'll bet too that you exhausted afterwards though, especially if not having swam, etc, for years. (I know I sure would be lol)

I swim a little, with my clients in the summer. Sometimes hubby and I go to a lake if it is warm and we can afford the gasoline. I felt very relaxed after the exercise. When I was younger I went twice or three times a week. It is great for arthritis.

That's good, at least you've still gotten to go over the years so your body's used to it more. I used to swim in the farm pond every night in the summer after chores were done. Then when I got married and lived elsewhere, I'd only manage to get to go swimming every couple of weeks. lol, now it's been so long I would probably be exhausted after. I think the last time I got to go was about 7 years ago! Was just thinking, it seems to be a different kind of tiredness where you're still refreshed and relaxed...a good kind of peaceful tired if that makes any sense.

Sounds like fun! I've been a member of various gym programs and also Curves before, but I don't have anything right now. I just walk up to the main road and back, exactly a mile round trip, or use my recumbent bike. Unfortunately I haven't been doing nearly enough of either of those.

I don't think it counts when it is in an area that it is only two paces from one end to the other.

I don't have a health club membership - the nearest DECENT one is about an hours drive from home and i just dont have the time or money to go that far. I invested in my own elliptical trainer last fall and i love using that. I also have a punch pass for the pool 2 blocks from work i occasionally use for swimming.

Equipment just ends up like a clothes rack at my house. I have some. I would love to use it. Water exercise is just fun for me. I need someone to tell me what to do.

Oh, that is funny. I think I need to clear out some space and invite my friend who is not blessed to come workout with me.

Mine ends up as a clothes hanger in the summer when theres outside stuff to do...gardening...mowing...horseback riding...swimming and kayaking. Winter time, I have this deal with my friend, if I don't use it a minimum of 4 times a week unless im sick...i have to pay her 10 dollars and she has to do the same thing if she doesnt use hers. Its a good deterrent from leaving it as a clothing rack. (some months can be kind of profitable)

I do not have any kind of health club membership. The only time I do water aerobics is in the summer time because my friend has a in ground pool. She told me that I can use it anytime I want.Yes doing any kind of exercise in the water is good for your health.

I do not. Each time I visit one I think.. hey this can be a good idea, but it's never a good idea. I had a membership many years ago. I started going all the time for the first month... often the second, occasionally the third and from them it was all downhill LOL Still I prefer to exercise without calling it exercise. Walking, swimming, canoeing, riding my bike... have you noticed that most of those are outdoor things? Yep feels so much better when it's outside. ANyways, it sure works for many people, specially the ones that can really commit and go regularly, but in my experience it didn't work as I has first thought.

I know, that is why I am having to think hard about it. One of the things that I consider is that I could eventually become an instructor and get free membership.

If you can actually get the instructor position and get the free membership then it will be worth I guess. Good luck :):)

Currently I do not, but when we did not have a swimming pool where we live, then I joined the YMCA/YWCA and took swimming classes and used their pool and sauna regularly. It was affordable, and much safer than other places I might have gone. They had a wonderful program.

Our Y is the biggest pain when it comes to the pool. Always some reason why I can't use it. Being cleaned, the schedule changed, etc. Sooo not worth it.

hi gardengerty nope wish I did. I dont get the exercise I should seated here at my computer all day. I am physically handicapped so walking is hard for me but I can do it slowly. water aerobics would be really good. we have a pool here but for me with my leg brace its almost impossible for me to get to the pool, therees a number of steps withour any railings at all before I even get to the pool proper.once there I would have no problems but the company that owns this apt complex evidentley does not care to have senior citizens with any problems so has made no provision for us whats so ever.
