Weekend craft sale: Very successful! |
|
More then successful, I have to make a ton of stuff before I can even schedule another one. Someone told me that with the economy the way it is people are buying smaller things to satisfy their need to spend a little....well they spent alot. The gal next to me too had a very good sale! Hope if any of you are doing a sale soon you have a very successful one too!

2. Canellita (3310) | 10 months ago | It is because of the selling a lot and having to rush to make more that I am taking a break from the markets and concentrating on the fall and hoilday inventory so that when that time rolls around I will have more than enough stuff.

3. Opal26 (10131) | 10 months ago | Hey jill! I'm glad that your craft sale worked out so well! And I do think that you're right about people buying smaller things to make thenselves feel better! I know that's what I would do too! If I go into the dollar store and buy something it makes me feel better so I would love to go to a craft sale and shop for sure! I think that's a great way for you to make money! I wish I was crafty!

carolbee (6809) | 10 months ago | I tried Etsy for a year and sold nothing. Probably my fault for not pushing my items.
| |
|
|
jillhill (11840) | 10 months ago | My biggest money makers were believe it or not....my framed and matted poetry! I had several people buy more then one....I also have alot of small items that even kids can buy....like tic tacs that are covered with bright paper or butterflies etc...sold a ton of them! But basically I sold a little of everything....
| |
|
|
carolbee (6809) | 10 months ago | Your ideas are great. Did you stamp the tic tacs or use decals? So glad you had a successful weekend. Guess the economy is not killing sales at craft fairs/shows.
| |
|
|
jillhill (11840) | 10 months ago | I sometimes stamp on them but for the EAster ones I did for the craft sale I just covered them with easter paper....they didn't need a stamp...you could use stickers though...everyone thought they were cute...one lady was going to try to make them look like Bibles for her sunday school class.

5. ElusiveButterfly (9481) | 10 months ago | I have to start doing my crafts again. My hope is that hubby can take the items to a local flea market on the days I am working and set up the sale. Items that are well made and low priced do sell! I also plan on doing some baked goods. Who in their right mind wants to bake in the summertime? Me I guess! But, I believe that cookies and breads would sell pretty good.

beachstarz (894) | 10 months ago | Hi jillhill, That's Great! You have shown that there is still hope for crafters trying to sell their crafts . Be proud, you must have just the things that shoppers are looking for!
| |
|
|
jillhill (11840) | 10 months ago | I think if you promote your things in the right way...making sure the customer feels special..you will sell...one thing I sell alot of is covered tic tac...or the small mints from the dollar store....I cover them with pretty paper and add a bow.....(through an eyelet) sell them for fifty cents and even the kids buy them...they are a good seller at all of my craft sales.

ElusiveButterfly (9481) | 10 months ago | That is a great idea. They would be wonderful for special events and weddings too!

| 6. nancysoffice (52) | 10 months ago | Congratulations and Good Luck on your next one. Great for the gal next door, too. I guess when they mean smaller things they mean less expensive. Especially, if the items are on sale; not for sale. Where ever you go everyone is budgeting and are keeping their limits.

busyB4 (792) | 10 months ago | I am sure those were probably good sellers! What kind of crafts do you do??

jillhill (11840) | 10 months ago | My framed and matted poetry was a big sellar....I paint on the glass, roses etc....for some reason I sold a ton of them. Maybe with the economy the way it is people are feeling closer to their loved ones? I don't know for sure....but it was very weird!

8. muscles4me (9195) | 10 months ago | Good for you. I am glad you were able to pick up extra cash. I am looking forward to Garage Sales again this year. I always pick up used books even if they are cheap enough and I do not have much of an interest. We have a library here in my condo complex and I take them there or give them to my mom or another reading friend. Since my cable will be disconnected when this last payment runs out I will be doing more reading.

jillhill (11840) | 10 months ago | Buggers.....too bad about the cable. Hopefully you'll find alot of entertainment in reading!

10. OreoCookie3 (18823) | 10 months ago | That's good to hear Jill. It's good to know folks are still out spending money. I am not spending much at all. I might go get me an outfit this month, which I haven't done in ages. I might visit a thrift store first to see if there is something there I want, and if not I will go to Target.
