Does anyone use dial up any more?

I'll I remember is the funny dialing noises it makes when it connects:D, but I don't know anyone who uses it anymore.

about 5 or 6 years ago, i still used dial up. but now that i do a lot of work using the internet, i need a better and faster connection so i switched to dsl/broadband. i get to download songs and movies too. but sometimes, the connection can be really slow. but it's way better than dial up. i don't know any other people who still use dial up up to now. dsl/broadband has become cheaper nowadays so people would rather have them than dial up.

I dont use dial up. The last we had it in our home was over 10 years ago. I remember the "dial up" sound hehe. It was something like those stuff you'd hear in alien movies.

It's been ages since I Used dial up LOL! if you still use one then Good luck to you! LOL! I can still remember how hard to use a dial up! and used to stay up very late just to finish a research.. so bad!

oh goodness. i remember dialup well.. thats all their was when i started using the net also.. i was 15 or 16 at the time.. and my mom used to always complain about the phone too.. but i'd just stay up all night haha. So.. my mother inlaw lives in a rural area (that's how you say she lives in the boonies nicely right? ) and taht's all they have available there.. it takes her like 3 hours to download even drivers for her pc. CRAZY!!

hi ctrymuziklvr oh yes do I remember? I was wanting to use the phone and never could as my son was on the dial up computer,and vice versa. it was a royal pain in you know where. I was so elated when my son got on dsl and connected my computer to his so we could both use dsl. it was fantastic and no darned dial up noises either. I am now on cable but its not as speedy as dsl to my view anyway but then I still have microsoft 2000 on my machine and need to update so we shall see. but at least no dial up. that was just awful

Actually i donn feel Dial up Was that BAd i USed Dial up 2 years back nn all i know abt internet till date was probably learned during dial up
ofcourse it'z kind of slow nn i would say expensive too
but was alwayz handy nn best for those who actually use internet just for some special perposes nn very rarly

I haven't used dial up in years, but yes, the sound of connecting is still in my mind. lol When I think of how slow it was to do anything I don't know how I ever had that much patience! My sister is also in a rural area and that's the only thing they have available. My brother-in-law does a little bit of work from home, and I don't know how he can do anything as slow as their connection is. All my sister usually does is check her email at home. If she wants to do anything else she does it on her lunch hour at work. If there was ever some reason I had to go back to dial up I'd probably wind up throwing the computer out the window!:)

Oh man, the old school dial up days. I honestly can't believe anyone still use dialup. I could understand if you're really, really trying to save money. In my opinion, it seems dsl has become the new dial up, tis fairly cheap. And the annoying little fax machine noise it used to make! GAH! haha

My parents used to until about a year ago. Even they surrendered. There are some little towns in Western Massachusets, where I live, that don't get highspeed because there are no power lines. Where I live, we get it, but we only have one provider. According to the cable company that provides this service, you have to have all these crazy T.V. channels that I never watch to qualify for highspeed internet. One of my assistants gets highspeed but doesn't have all the channels. Maybe tomorrow when I'm home taking a period related day off I'll call Charter and see what's going on.
