Remember when something in the mailbox with your name on it was exciting? |
Remember when you got excited when you found an envelope in the mailbox with your name on it? Before snail mail became nothing but bills? When was the last time you opened your mailbox and found something that brought a smile to your face? How would it be to get a birthday card that came with a gift instead of a reminder that your dental cleaning is due?
Ecards are great and all, but do they mean as much to you as a card, made of paper, in an envelope? Do you think that in the great convenience of the internet we are missing out on opening an envelope instead of a file?
Which would excite you more an Ecard or one made of paper, sent to your home?

Greeting cards aren't part of Greek culture?

thea09 (4403) | 1 month ago | Teddy your link doesn't work and you've sent the same one to the rabbit, are you on a commission or something.
| |
ParaTed2k (4586) | 4 weeks ago | Hmmm, so you don't have a problem with people promoting the websites of others, but if somehow wrong for me to promote my own?
| |
thea09 (4403) | 4 weeks ago | Teddy I was responding to something in my box and had seen your discussion about a discussion being deleted and was explaining it to you. No one is allowed to spam on here if you weren't aware and as I don't spend my time in the money making interest I'm clueless as to what websites you or others promote. Seems a bit silly to send me a link (which you must know I don't open) when I've already said we don't do cards in Greece. I thought the usual accepted way to spam was to do it in pms if you don't expect them to be deleted.
| |
ParaTed2k (4586) | 4 weeks ago | Every time we post a link we support someone's website. I doubt that's what is meant in the TOS.
| |
thea09 (4403) | 4 weeks ago | I can't see why you are arguing over this one Teddy. Posting links to spam for buisness is against the rules simple. In my view all other links should also be left out but then the politics section would be a bit empty as you need them to prop up the arguments there. Posting a link within a discussion to interest people in your business is spam, end of. You may well be able to do it in the make money section and would suggest you try there but I for one think it is sneaky to lure people into a discusson about mail and then thrust links promoting something in their faces when they are irrelevant, particularly so when I've made the comment that we don't use Greeting cards in Greece. As I said stick to pms like the other spammers.
| |
thea09 (4403) | 4 weeks ago | In fact I only finally deleted one spammer who's been there as a pending F/R yesterday for the first time in months. He had a post count of around 250 but over 3000 friends here, so all you need to do is trawl all sorts of discussions requesting every person as a friend, 95% will accept you and your spam will be seen by a much wider audience than those who respond to your discussions.
I hope you find that advice useful Teddy as it is a good tip.

ParaTed2k (4586) | 4 weeks ago | Then report me and move on Thea.
| |
thea09 (4403) | 4 weeks ago | Well you're in a bad mood, I was only pointing out how the majority of spammers here get through the guidelines. You certainly aren't going to get many through your discussions when you start name calling as you've done today.
| |
jb78000 (1707) | 4 weeks ago | ted, i was actually going to pm you and tell you to be careful (so as your discussions DIDN'T get noticed and removed - i.e. it would have been a friendly gesture) but then i saw someone had been giving advice in one of those discussions, as has thea here, so decided that was not necessary. now as the discussion in politics has now descended into kindergarten exchanges i think i am going to leave the children to play by themselves for a while.
thea - i'm off to marine life or something, coming?

2. jb78000 (1707) | 1 month ago | hiya ted - what have you done with che? good new avatar though. anyway i get cards on my birthday, some people send me ecards as well, but the last time i got something in the post that wasn't gumph from either the bank or virgin was 2 weeks ago and it was some cds. before that it was a couple of books from my mum. i've moved around a lot so my friends and family are fairly widely distributed so i get occasional things from those that live at a distance. i have to say i do not miss handwritten letters though.

3. moneymakingtoday (1710) | 1 month ago | I was surprised to get a postcard through the snail mail. I didn't know that a former chat mate from another country sent me one. I asked him why he did that, he said he just wanted to surprise me and wanted to do a thing which has slowly become obsolete now. I also had received gifts in the past from other friends abroad. It surprised me too as I didn't expect nor ask for them. I am more excited on personally-made gifts than ecards. They have a personal touch in them.

| |
ParaTed2k (4586) | 1 month ago | Something fun in the mail is always exciting, isn't it! It's even more exciting when it was unexpected.
Cards will only become obsolute if we forget how great it is to get them.;~D

5. ElicBxn (15258) | 1 month ago | I agree, an actual card, made from paper, even cheap, can be more exciting than an ecard - because I can look at it over and over and even a month later be looking at it
heck, the roomie got a card that we hung on the wall over a year ago - maybe 2 years ago, because the lady that sent it died in July of 08.

ParaTed2k (4586) | 1 month ago | Actual paper cards, in the mail are absolutely more exciting than ecards (although we do like our ecards too, don't we!). It can be a bit pricy, and I guess the reason Ecards are more popular is convenience. But what would you do if you could combine the convenience of Ecards with the excitement of real cards?
That is exactly what Send Out Cards is. You order them online just like you would an Ecard, but Send Out Cards takes the order, prints, stuffs and stamps it for you. Then the person you're sending it to gets the fantastic surprize in their mailbox. You can even submit your own handwriting as a font option!
I'm even giving out a limited number of free cards just so people can see how fun and easy it is.

7. sender621 (801) | 1 month ago | When i was a little girl, i would be so excited to get something in the mail with my name on it. I felt so important to be getting mail. My mom and dad ordered the weekly reader from school for me. i think it was the first mail i ever receceived. Now i'm not normally that happy to get mail with my name on it. They are usually bills to be paid!
| |
| |
ParaTed2k (4586) | 1 month ago | Weekly Reader was probably among the first thing a lot of us got in the mail with our name on it. It was always fun to get. That is why I'm doing my part to keep the fun going even in this day of email and ecards.
That's also why I'm giving away a limited number of free cards for people to send to a friend or family (or even to themselves). How sad would it be for cards to be cast into the scrapheap of history?

ParaTed2k (4586) | 1 month ago | You're right, there's nothing wrong with Ecards, it is fun getting and sending them. They just don't seem to carry the same excitement that a real paper card does. Now you can have the convenience and fun of sending Ecards together with the excitement of getting something in the mail with your name on it.
I'm giving away a limited number of cards so people can discover this for themselves. One of them might as well be sent by you, right?

9. wahmivy (540) | 1 month ago | I love snail mail! When I was young, I joined an international penpal club and I lived for those letters and postcards from friends abroad. I'm thinking of doing that again. Email is great, but nothing beats the excitement of receiving something tangible and getting to see/read what's inside.:)

10. TickleMeBreathless (295) | 1 month ago | Oh yes. I remember those days. I would always get a card from my grandma and my godfather on my birthday and christmas. Every time I would get the mail and saw a colorful envelope with my name on it I would squeal in delight. I still occasionally get cards, which makes me happy. I personally send cards, not ecards, because I feel they hold more meaning.

ParaTed2k (4586) | 1 month ago | If you already send cards, then Send Out Cards would be great for you! You pick and write them out just like an Ecard, but then Send Out Cards stuffs, stamps, addresses the envelopes and mails them for you.
