Celebrating St. Patrick's Day... |
| |
| So, tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day…the day of green, leprechauns, pots of gold and celebration. Many ppl take the day very seriously, while others simply see it as a day of fun pinching ppl for not wearing green. For most ppl leprechauns are folklore along with the pots of gold at the end of the rainbow but for some Irish ppl, it’s as real as anything else. Personally, I like the holiday, I find it a fun and happy holiday. I don’t go out drinking but I do try to wear green. I can remember when I was in school everyone would ask if you were wearing green and if you weren’t, boy did you get pinched. LOL So, what does St. Patrick’s Day mean to you? Do you do anything special for the day? Do you believe in the whole leprechauns and pots of gold? Have you ever found a four leaf clover? **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~ | | St. Patrick’s Day...St. Patrick’s Day...St. Patric | | | | |

| | My grandma would be 110 if she was still alive. One of my best friends will be forty nine. I always wear green, I love Celtic music. I recognize that part of my heritage on that day, but I am a real Heinz 57. It is a fun memory, and I always had fun coloring pictures for my Grandma and sending them to her. Lots of four leaf clovers and Leprechauns. My friend wears green, and shamrock jewelry any time she feels like it, and if any one gives her any static over it she informs them that she is entitled to wear Irish stuff year around. She is Irish at least in part, anyway. | | | | | | |

| | For me it is really nothing as I am not really a deeply religious person in general, I am however a Pagan. Saint patrick was the man who led the slaughter of a lot of pagans in Ireland. In other words, "drove out the snakes" as the holliday has watered down to. Personaly, I'll probably have a few whiskeys with some friends though..I am Irish after all. | | | | | | |

| | Your lucky...I'd love to hunt a clover patch for a real four leaf clover...I think they are so neat. I'd like to find one and have it sealed in glass...maybe I'll have to find an already made one. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~ | | | |

| | We're not celebrating a St Patrick's day, but in other sites, my online friends are used of sending me St Patrick's Day greetings and comments, I'm sending them back the same.I think there's nothing wrong sending friends with the Irish luck. | | | | | | |

| | I think you make a valuable point...holidays are what you make them. Despite what some ppl think about a holiday, it all comes down wot how we each see them. I don't really see the religious side of them (never really researched it) but I do enjoy all the celebration. Many of the Facebook games are also celebrating the holiday with special prizes. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~ | | | |

| | There was a big party at the Army Navy Air Force club which is right next door to us, we partied there on Saturday night. They had Irish dancing, and everything. It was great!! They also have Guinness on tap. We are going to go back there tomorrow and make sure to have a Guinness for St. Patrick's Day. There are also nice green cookies at Second Cup! :) | | | | | | |

| | I saw a program the other night that showed a bar serving green beer...I would think it's just regular beer with a drop of food coloring...what do you think? **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~ | | | |

| | Hi twoey68, I don't go for the drinking either, but I love to cook the tradtional fare. This year, instead of corned beef and cabbage, I'm doing lamb stew, with soda bread and because my hubby doesn't like cabbage in gravy, I'm just having a side dish of buttered cabbage. I do decorate some for St.Paddy's Day as well. I have a green table cover and gold, shiny place mats. It can be fun to keep some of the traditions going. I even have Irish music to play for the fun of it. | | | | | | |

| | What is soda bread? I've never heard of it. I wasn't aware that cabbage is such a big dish for the holiday. The decorations sound really festival as well. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~ | | | |

| | Soda bread is like a biscuit. It's a little flatter than a biscuit that uses yeast for the rising. Baking soda is used instead of yeast. | | | |

| | No, I don't really celebrate St. Patrick's Day at all where I am from. I have heard on a t.v. report that people from Ireland don't even celebrate it that much either. I haven't found a four leaf clover before. Its weird how St. Patrick's day isn't a Holiday here. I hope you enjoy this special day. | | | | | | |

| | I don't know if the ppl in Ireland really celebrate or not. Maybe one of the Irish members will pop in and say for sure. I do hope they do though. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~ | | | |

| | Hi twoey, St. Patrick's day has never been important to me but sometimes I'll wear green. I've only known one person who believed in leprechauns and don't think it's a growing trend lol. I'm not into the drinking either. Blessings. | | | | | | |
