Are You Kidding Me?

It happens from time to time when you are in hotels a lot. Even if it happens to be a hotel location you are familiar with... . Such as this one in Mauston, WI is. Are you kidding me? This is my work space? I DO have work to do when I get into my hotel room. Even still. I don't think I have EVER had a room that did not at least have a proper table you could MAKE into a work space. They removed the desk. Ugh. I could complain. I could ask for another room. I know the others have a desk. I will just suffer it out tonight. But this is a strike. I guess I will have to put a note into my "special requests" the next time I book to say, "Prefer a room with a desk."

What did you do book a one-star hotel? That's sad you have such a tight workspace.

@porwest I thought they were at least 2-star hotels.

@porwest I'd say it was 1-star.

@just4him lol. They might be. But this was definitely a 1-star room.

@porwest Does not look like a fun work station. I wonder why they removed the desk. Good idea to do that.

They have been doing some remodeling at this particular location, and I think the front desk clerk did not realize that this room was...not done.

That does look quite uncomfortable having to work at the makeshift desk. Hope you don't have to sit there too long and work.

I moved the computer to the bed. At least the bed was higher. It was no good for my back leaning down like that.

Definitely complain! That's not enough room to do anything.

Your having a "savings mentality" bit you in the butt this time Did you at least have a nice view of the parking lot

lol. No. At least my room was facing a field. Even still, I always request the 2nd floor. I hate being on the parking lot level.

if you're going to be there for a few more days, then it's better to ask for a table

In our hotel bookings abroad, we often get a big room with nice amenities but sometimes what we get is a cramped room. I think it depends on the country.

That does look very cramped.

That really is not good. Surely a table of some sort should be standard in such rooms.

Usually it is. They have been doing some remodeling the past few months at this location, and so they probably just have not put a desk in yet. Still...a LOT of people travel for work and so a desk is almost a must. Like I said, I could complain. But I just make it work. It's still a strike though, and as a diamond member I can make some valuable reviews. I don't always review my stays, but this time I probably will.

I have been to this particular hotel many times and always got a desk. This was an anomaly. But definitely if I get another room without a desk I will complain.
