Question for Today: Do you Dress Up Your Pet?

Many pet owners enjoy playing dress up with their dogs and cats. I remember my sister dressing up her dog for a family Christmas photo. It was a Christmas card photo with the dog wearing reindeer antlers and I have to say the "Nigel" seemed bewildered by the whole photo shoot. Seems like the dog's response is "what's going on."
Although my niece's smile posing with the dog made for a cute picture.
I wonder if dog's enjoy being dressed up? What your response to this photo? Have you ever played dress up with your pet? Do you think there is any harm in owners doing this?

I don't think cats are as tolerable of being dressed up as dogs are

Yes, my cat would never sit still for that. Putting on it's collar or getting her in her carrier was tricky enough

Some dogs seem to look like they enjoy it. Check out this doggie. I bet this pooch is saying
"I feel pretty, so pretty."

Some dogs will just try to shake the costume off them. What do you think of this doggie photo? I think the pooch is saying -"I'm marvelous, simply marvelous."

I have only had cats and never dressed up any of them except for one Easter when I tried putting rabbit ears on my cat,

Did your cat enjoy those rabbit ears? My cat would have not let me even try. She'd have run away and hid from me
I think dogs can be much more tolerant.
Look at this dog photo. Seems this doggie doesn't mind. In fact I bet the pooch is saying -"I look fabulous darling."

Your niece is adorable. My granddaughter dresses up her Maltipoo sometimes. I think he's okay with it because he doesn't know he's a dog.

@dgobucks226 He seems to enjoy his costume! My granddaughter's dog is more spoiled than most children. She bought him a stuffed animal that looks exactly like him, but he hates it. Jealous, probably.

@1creekgirl Yes, only room for one Alpha dog in the home. Guess she resents the competition, lol.

But if you did, wouldn't this outfit look lovely? That pooch would be saying -"I look fabulous darling."

I've always thought it was kind of silly but hilarious for people to dress up their pets. I think dogs just like the attention so they're okay with it but they don't know what it is. Cats probably hate it so I almost think with them the owner is just forcing it on them, borderline abuse.

Cats definitely don't tolerate it. Some dogs don't seem to mind. Check out this crazy looking pooch. I would describe that dog as saying -"I'm styling, Baby!"

@dgobucks226 Now she looks proud in her dress. Her head is high and her ears pointed in such a way that says, look at me, I'm gorgeous!

Unfortunately we no longer have dogs; but when we did, we never dressed them up. However, when I was working I used to make my boss a calendar every year for Christmas. I would put a lot of her family pictures on it; but I also dressed her dog up for each month...For example, Halloween as a ghost. He was amazing. He would let me put ANYTHING on him; and he would sit still until I took the picture. Then he would get a treat. Sadly, he passed on while I was still working there. The new dog in the office wouldn't let me put anything on him! :-) By the way, the dog was a black Labrador. Isn't that what the dog in the picture is? Cute picture.

Yes, a lab
He was a real gentle dog so no issues with putting a costume on him. I think it depends on the dog's temperament. Our family dog probably would have bitten us if we tried it
Here's another dog who seems perfectly happy with their outfit. How do you like my description of his photo?

@dgobucks226 Indeed, and in their own way, definitely let us know what they are thinking about it all.

Mine would have scratched me, lol. Some dogs can tolerate it. And turtle's would be a cinch to decorate. You could paint on their shells and they wouldn't know what hit them
It looks like this doggie is enjoying his dress up doesn't it?
I can just hear her saying -"I feel pretty, so pretty."

Many owners put sweaters on their pets in winter to keep them comfy. Probably not a great idea in Chile

I never dressed mine up, because I valued my life.
No, I always figured she was perfect the way she was, without any added costumes.

Our family dog would of definitely bit me. And cats have no tolerance. Now a turtle would be no trouble to decorate. You can draw on that shell and it wouldn't know what hit it.
Check out this dog with the Billy Crystal/Fernando Llamas impression!

When my kids were young they had the tendency to dress up our cats. The cats weren't happy but the kids were.
Don't dress up our dogs now but each of them does have a nice winter sweater to wear outside.
Such a cute picture of your niece and Nigel

I put antlers on the dog of my niece for a photo for Christmas, the dog was not at all happy.
