Black Friday Shopping

United States

Are you shopping for Black Friday sales today? I'm not venturing out of the house today but I probably will be looking online to see if any sales can entice me to buy something. Usually both my oldest daughter and youngest daughter venture out on Black Friday but not this year. Both have decided that a day of relaxation looks like more fun than shopping. I've never been one to be at the store in the wee hours of the morning and fight the crowds for a bargain. After a busy, fun and great Thanksgiving yesterday I'm just content to relax today too. .

I went grocery shopping and that was my only shopping of the day. I need nothing, but I would have preferred to buy online than to venture in stores.

@Marilynda1225 - Our local newspaper conducted a survey to know how many Swiss had intention to go out for Black Friday shopping... a mere 4%. I noticed that the stores were empty yesterday.

@ladyduck I won't even venture out to the grocery store today. I'm sure it's as insane as any other store today. Not only am I avoiding crowds but I'm afraid that Covid will spread too.

They have been having black Friday sales since Wednesday here. I picked up alot of Christmas gifts with a huge discount on Wednesday, I had no idea that they would have these sales. Today I stopped at the grocery store to pick up a case of diapers as they have a no tax event. I'm glad that I did-when did diapers get so expensive? But then again, when did they have more then just 2 brands? Its been forever since I've bought any.

@Marilynda1225 I'm learning alot these past few months. When I shop for the twins I have to shop for weights or if its clothing, then its preemie, newborn and 0-3 months. Our son and his friends are very close. They all grew up together and many have had friendships since grade school. They have married and started families at different times, but have all remained tight. Our son and his wife had a very expensive mama roo fancy swing on their registry. But with twins, they had 2 on the list. Her co-workers went together and bought 1 and his friend bought one a couple of years ago and its made the rounds to the other Dads and Moms as they needed it. These are in the $400 neighbourhood to purchase, and really after a few months, they are no longer needed. I offered to buy the second one, but he told me today that they share one in the friend circle and its coming to him next. They may not be our generation, but they were raised right and they know the value of a dollar and are quick to help each other out that way.

@Juliaacv that's really nice that your son and his friends pass around something like the swing. Babies do outgrow things like that so fast and they're so expensive (especially if you need two). Swings are a necessity that's for sure. I remember how handy they were when my grandchildren were babies. My kids passed baby stuff from family to family too.

@Marilynda1225 I am relieved that they have this item lent to them. Our son is an only child, so he doesn't have any siblings to share things with, and his wife has 1 sister who has 4 children, but the twins, their youngest, are 7 years old, and anything that they had during their first year is no longer considered safe usually. Our daughter-in-law buys alot of items, new, at the online auctions that she goes to.

I've only gone shopping (besides the grocery store) on black friday once and it was terrible! Way too many people and very smelly. Will be home not out. But looking online too.

@Courtlynn my Amazon cart is more like a wish list . It's filled with stuff but only a select few things actually make it to checkout

I've never seen anything on sale that would entice me to fight the crowds. It's generally insane and I don't even want to put myself in the way of catching Covid (even though I'm vaccinated). I've been looking online and see some sales but don't know if I'm going to actually check out my cart.

HECK NO. I’m staying home (second day in a row, haven’t done that since I had covid last year)! It’s cold and insane and “people-y” out there. So I’m cleaning my living room and drinking delicious hot tea (just had vanilla macaroon and I’m getting ready to have butterscotch blondie).

Nope... They never have anything good enough to entice me into that crazy mob of people. I encourage people to do their Black Friday shopping online. Most of them don't listen.

I hadn't planned on shopping today, haven't done Black Friday in years. Looked on line, but system moves so slow, I guess because so many are shopping on line today.

I don't like too much of a crowd, so I may avoid shopping on a Black Friday. But if there are ongoing sales and the crowd seems pretty cool, I would like to look at some accessories and shoes.
