My son likes pies so this morning I made him a cherry pie and a chocolate peanutbutter pie. My daughter in law came by this afternoon to pick them up. She had food to prepare for a baby shower she’s attending tomorrow. She’d been out shopping and buying gifts today. She brought me a book she thought I would like and I sent a book with her I thought she and my son would like. She didn’t have long to stay but we had time for a good chat. She had a shingles shot a few days ago. Her arm is still swollen and sore. I don’t remember that I had a painful arm from my shingles injection. Did any of you have a bad reaction to a shingles shot? The picture is my grandchildren.

@Treborika Shingles are itchy blisters breaking out on your body. Anyone who has chickenpox is subject to shingles.

That is a very lovely pic of your grandchildren Ruby So cute and growing up. Oh sorry to hear of your daughter in laws swollen arm after the shot. Nice pies you made. They will love those. Glad you get along as well and had a nice visit even if it was short. Hope they like the book and you like the book too.

I'm reading my library books that must go back on the 22nd. I'll read the gifted one when I don't have a library book. I have shelves of books I haven't read. If anything happens that I can't go to the librry. I'll still have books to read.

@RebeccasFarm I was home bound after the wreck and I had plenty of books. Now I usually trade books as I read them. Some books I never get rid of.

My arm swelled up and was very sore for three days after my first shingles shot. The second shot didn't affect me as much. I hope you're having a good evening.

@RubyHawk Some people aren't affected by shots. I usually have swelling at the site of the injection and may have an upset stomach after a shot.

@DaddyEvil Vaccinations do effect people in different ways. They give me no trouble but that could change the next time I get a shot.

The chocolate peanut butter pie sounds heavenly! Glad you had a nice visit (although brief) with your DIL. I didn't have a bad reaction to my first shingles shot, although my arm was pretty sore. But my second shot came on the heels of my second Covid shot, and although I tried to push it back as long as I could but still stay within the acceptable window, my second shingles shot was extremely painful and I could hardly lift or move my arm for several days afterward. I think it had something to do with the fact that I got it not too long after my Covid shot.

I think my daughter In law had a covid shot not long before she had the shingles shot. That’s probably why she had the reaction. Her arm was red and puffed up.

You have some great looking grandchildren there. You have done well. I imagine that's in your apartment? Rather nice. Not what I would have expected. As for shingles, I have never had a shot. I may be too young to worry about it? I will be 50 in June.

@RubyHawk people now who have been vaccinated against chicken pox can still get shingles. I thought that was interesting. My niece and nephew got light cases of chicken pox a few times even after being vaccinated.

@shaggin Yes, I did get shingles after the vaccination but it had been years since I had it and my case of shingles was much lighter since I'd had the shot. I don't know why I've hesitated to get mine again. I sure don't want to have the shingles again

Thank you. Grandkids are the greatest. If you’ve had chicken pox, you aren’t too young. If you haven’t had chickenpox. You will never have shingles. That’s what I understand. If you don’t know, it’s best to get the shot.

I don’t remember if my arm was sore but that was years ago and I need another one now. I had a light case of shingles a year or two ago and they told me then that I need another shot. I should have gotten it before now.

I have heard of people having a bad reaction to the shingles shot, but I did not seem to. I had a bad reaction to my second pneumonia shot, though. Doctor said a strong reaction is usually an indication of good immunity developing. Your pies sound great.

@RubyHawk What Jeff says is true, if you have a second shot in the same arms it can be very painful. Here they ask and they do the second in the other arm, never two in the same arm if the first one was not at least 6 months before.
