Lost my dad last night. He was 91. He was a retired electrical engineer with a bunch of patents (go ahead and Google it). He got a BS in Physics from MIT and a MS in Engineering from UCLA. He also served in the US Army during the Korean war. He loved and survived two women, my mother, Mabel, and my step-mother, Jane. He traveled to Europe, Africa, South America and Antarctica. He left behind 4 adult children, 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. It's sad that he's gone, but he lived a full, good, long life. I will miss driving up to Reno and taking him out for Indian food. He had broken his hip last Saturday, but I couldn't get up there because of the weather in the Sierra Nevada. Fortunately, my sister was there to take care of him. Sad, but it was just time. RIP Dad.

I can understand how that can feel. My parents lived long lives as well. I know you'll miss him, but as you said... it's just time. 91 is a respectable age.

@dawnald You should allow nature to take its course. My mother-and-law and her sister both lived to be 92. And, they lived long productive lives.

@kaylachan I to too, but I guess what i'm saying is that IF I'm going to have pain and debility and the kinds of difficulties I've seen, then I don't want to live that long.

I am so sorry for your loss. Not easy to lose a parent. Looks like he worked with a lot of others in his patents. From your bio on him, I think he had a full, rich life.
RIP

@dawnald .........He did the work, his name should be on them. It's not all the almighty $$. I bet he was proud of the work he did.

Often after a fall, an elderly person will pass due to complications. I am sorry for your loss, but glad that you can celebrate all he did and enjoyed.

I will be fine. He had a long, good life. I will miss him but it's not as if he was taken away too young or something.
