4/1/24 - Update on My Husband

We went to visit my husband yesterday. His 2nd cousin and his godson/cousin took me to see him. His 2nd cousin made him a plate of food; but he had already eaten his lunch, so more for me! He was in good spirits. He still wants to get out of that facility though. This morning I will call the other facility and see if there are any beds available. I am still hopeful that he will be home in a couple of weeks; but that could be wishful thinking. They don't do physical therapy on the weekends which, to me, is a wasted 2 days. Thank you for your continued support, prayers and positive thoughts. Photo Credit: Pixabay

I am glad you got to see him. I'm glad he doesn't seem to be suffering from that hospital disorientation any more.

No, he's 100% over all that. He can't believe some of the stories that we tell him about his behavior.

@LindaOHio Did you tell him he said he was in a movie? I remember that for some reason!

That's great your husband was in good spirits! Keeping my fingers crossed about another facility. Yah, I remember with my dad there was not much happening over the weekends.

Thanks. I have contacted Admissions at the new facility and the Social Worker at his present facility. She is the one who will initiate the move.

As long as he continues to show improvement each and every day, you’re headed in the right direction! He’ll be home soon enough!

We recently had a family member in a rehab for several weeks, due to a badly broken leg. I visited several times, there was no therapy on the weekends there, either. I hope you can find him another place since that one doesn't seem to have it all together, which is too bad.

I'm waiting for a call back from the Social Worker. She will have to initiate a referral to get the ball rolling to get him moved.

Although I am glad that he is eating, it is too bad that he wasn't able to eat his special meal brought up to him. One day soon he will be steady on his feet and returning home to you.

@lovebuglena They could stagger the work weeks. Someone could work Wednesday-Sunday.

It sounds like a good visit. They probably cannot get or afford to pay qualified physical therapy providers on the weekends.

Probably not; but it seems like such a waste. Plus my husband lays in bed for those two days. It seems counter-productive.

For some reason rehabs never seem to want physical therapists around on weekends, it makes no sense to me either because of the nature of a rehab facility.

It's probably hard for facilities to get therapists to work on the weekends. I agree it seems like a wasted couple of days. Hope the other place has an open bed for him. Continued prayers.
