On the Lookout

Yesterday I went out to water my marigolds and saw a piece of paper rolled and tucked in my door handle of my front screen door. Taking it inside I unrolled it and saw the "headline." Missing Tortoise. It came complete with a picture and some information. Apparently the turtle's name is Jericho and he likes bananas. I have not seen any turtles around recently. But certainly, if I see one now, I will assume it's Jericho the banana eating tortoise and call the number that was provided. I am on the lookout.

@porwest I'm sure there are wild turtles in the area, so I guess a pet turtle could also probably survive.

@moffittjc Plus, does a turtle actually ever become "domesticated?"

Yeah. I wonder if Jericho would be equipped to survive it. I guess turtles are. But who knows? I don't know much about turtles.

This is a pet turtle. I'm convinced that the owner looks after it and is an adorable member of the family. I hope Jericho is soon found. Because as long as he is out of his owner's sight, I think he possibly can be in some sort of danger. Though I am not very sure about what dangers these souls have to face.

@porwest Oh I thought you let us all know about Jericho as and when he went missing and that there's still time for him to be reunited with his owner. But because you said you hope that he was eventually reunited with his owner, gives an impression as if Jericho went missing for a considerable amount of time.

@abhi_bangal I just saw the sign saying he was missing with a picture. I didn't know the owner or Jericho.

I am sure they really want him back considering the lengths they went to to have him found.

Those things walk faster than we can imagine. The one of my neighbors was often in our vegetable garden eating our lettuce.

Poor Jericho. I hope someone finds him, gives him a banana and returns him to his owner. Have a good day.

Reading this old post, it makes me wonder what ever actually became of Jericho. Did the owners ever find him? Did he wind up squashed in the road? Did he find a mate and make lots of Jericho Jr.'s? It will forever remain a mystery.

I hope in this big heat wave, Jericho finds some water to drink! Very concerning, poor fella.

I am sure, around here, finding water should not be a problem. Not that we have a lake nearby or anything. But lots of ponds and things like that. I hope he is found sooner rather than later in any event.

@MarieCoyle No. It sure doesn't. I try to drink lots and lots of water throughout the day.

@porwest Yes, I was concerned due to the extreme heat, it just doesn't take long for people and animals to get dehydrated.

Right? I mean, I see things about lost dogs and cats all the time. Maybe the occasional oddball like Fluffy the bunny or something turns up. But a turtle? That's a new one on me.

Well, the one in the picture is just one off the Internet and is not Jericho. But based on the black and white picture on the paper that was on my door, I am sure it's very similar. I hope the owner is able to get him back. It's never fun to have a lost pet.

Not sure whatever became of poor Jericho. I told someone else when they asked about it, I thought maybe someone found him and made soup.
