9/24/24 - Update On My Husband

Spoke with my husband last night. Physical therapy is going well. He worked on steps, arm exercises and walking with a walker. He hasn't mentioned coming home again. I don't know if I will visit him this weekend or just wait until our anniversary. I called the local Council on Aging (which handles Meals on Wheels) and asked if they had a list of handymen/women. The nice lady emailed me a list; and I found someone that specializes in grab bars and handrails!!! I will double-check; but he said he would do it for $60!!!!! I hope that's correct! Thank you for your continued support, prayers and thoughts. Photo Credit: Pixabay

@LindaOHio I mean, I am right there with you. It's not like you want a second wing put on your house. It's just a frigging grab bar! lol

His time there is worn on him. He's likely starting to lose sight of the end goal. He's been there for months. George was only in rehab about three weeks, and he had days where he said 'I'm going home tomorrow' and one point where he said he didn't want to live. But, he bounced back. It can be hard mentally, physically and emotionally the longer it takes to reach a goal.

@LindaOHio Even he has his good and bad days. The fact he doesn't talk often about going home is a sign that it's starting to get to him. He likely doesn't want you to see how he really feels.

Bless your husband, he is working so hard physically. I hope that he is ready to return home next month. The handyperson's rate sounds reasonable, hopefully this pans out.
