Today I was up nice and early.
There seemed to be a little group of us here, watching the funeral for the Pope. May he RIP, he had such a positive effect on every corner of our world during his lifespan.
I got my groceries today.
I was looking for a gift card on one of those huge stands that they have in the grocery stores for a birthday party that we have to go to this afternoon. No such luck, I will try another store and worst case scenario if I cannot get a card to that specific store I will get one of those optional cards that are good for a few different stores.
My left hip and ankle are throbbing already. I literally am taking a pit stop before heading back out to get some tomato plants. Getting those planted in my little tiered stacked planter is on my agenda for this morning. That is on a base with wheels, which is important, as it gets cool here still and some nights there is still the chance of frost. I will wheel it inside when those conditions exist.
I am looking forward to the gathering this afternoon for the birthday party. It is such a great and fun group of people, and there are actually 3 generations that attend. Our son, daughter-in-law and the sweet twins, Willow and Harper, will be there. They got the birthday girl a gift certificate (for the entire family) for the Lond Children's Musuem. Which is full of hands on exhibits. Our son and his wife take the girls there about every 3 weeks, and they spend hours there.

Oh my! I just love that picture. That's a great play thing. I have never seen that before. I love the twins names!
I didn't know much about the Pope because I didn't pay a lot of attention. I am not Catholic. But I do agree, may he RIP!
I hope that you have fun at the party!

@LadyDuck I drove by the doctor's new office which they are still working on.
They must be nearly finished, the bins that they use when they are working on a place are gone and there are signs that they are cleaning up the exterior, there are signs on the windows, coming soon.....I am thinking that perhaps he is doing as much as he can for his patients without his office being a place that we can go just yet, by closely monitoring the test results that he receives and booking appointments so that once the move has been made he will make good use of his time there.
Willow is a normal size, but looks tall and big in comparison with Harper. Harper has such a high metabolism I imagine that she will always be slim.
Yesterday they had new outfits on at the party. They were the paper bag baggy style of denim pants with cute tops and a sweater. I could not get over how many parents commented repeatedly on their fashion sense. Harper came close to losing her bottoms a few times, and I whispered into her ear to ask for some suspenders.
Daddy was built like she is when he was that age, he didn't 'fill out' until he went away to university. Otherwise he was always busy physically and burned off all of the calories from the meal before. I took some cute pictures of them that I will post later.

Thanks Anna.
Jonathon took this picture of the girls a couple of weeks ago when they were at the museum.
Harper is on the right, and you can see that her hair is not as thick and healthy as that of Willow.
I have my ankle elevated and it is on ice now.
I am waiting to hear back from my new doctor regarding the results of the bone mineral density scan that I had done this past Thursday. Right now, he works from a clinic, as his new office is still not finished, so getting in touch with him is challenging, I have to wait for them to call me and hope that I can take the call. I missed 2 calls from him yesterday.

@Juliaacv - I recognized Harper, she is also smaller than Willow. Poor little girl, I hope she will get stronger growing up.
Keep your ankle elevated and iced, it usually helps a lot.
It is a problem when you cannot get in touch with your doctor. I hope he will call you back soon. Try to rest Julia.

Thank you.
They love going there.
Here, in the picture, they are in a section about where your food comes from and they are picking corn.
There is another section where the children can 'drive' little trucks to take the food to the grocery store and they can shop and work in the grocery store. And it is a totally cashless experience with debit machines and no cash. The way of the future that they live in and see their parents paying for things and they will in their time to come.

@Juliaacv ......I bet it is. My family has gone from over a dozen to just the three of us. Well, my granddaughter and her two kids but they live in another state and I rarely get to see them.

@celticeagle I am sorry that you are so far from your remaining relatives.
I do not like living here in the city, but we moved to be close to our son and his wife.

That's lovely picture and the twins seem to be enjoying every bit of this hands on things in museum. That's a very thoughtful gift, something they love
I hope that your pain is better. Having wheels will be helpful to drag those plants indoors in bad weather.

@arunima25 The wonderful thing about being engaged with one's grandchildren, is that technology has changed the 'teaching' aspect to much of what we need to teach the little ones. It has become much more fun if we embrace it.

@Juliaacv Yes. And I can imagine how much fun it would be for this age. I miss that age. I am hopeful that several years down the lane, I will have such moments with my grandchildren.

Thank you, the weather is dry today and my hip and ankle aren't bothering me as terribly as they did yesterday.
I was lucky to find the exact gift card that I was seeking, and they were pleased to have it for their daughter to take her clothes shopping for their big upcoming trip.

I had to watch his service. He didn’t speak for just Catholics, he truly cared about everyone. A humble and selfless man and he will be a very hard act to follow. I hope the one chosen continues with Pope Francis’s good works and positivity.

@MarieCoyle Now I look forward to white smoke which is the signal that a new Pope has been chosen.
And then to learn of the new Pope and see what his effect will be on the world.

I can't see that anyone could ever change Vance's mind about anything at all, but you have to give the Pope credit for trying.
Some people are famous or in certain positions because they love power. Then there are a few that are in those positions or similar ones who are there because they care and want to help. We do know what the Pope wanted to say and accomplish, because he tried every day to practice what he preached, so to speak. I did admire him, a lot.

I hope your hip and ankle feel better soon.
I can only walk properly with big boots on which give me left ankle much needed support.
The planter on wheels is a really good idea and you have given me an idea for a plant I grow. I would be able to take it in and out of the house easily.
Nice photo.

@Juliaacv I know the song.
I do love that tiered planter, must get one.
Ice helps me too. But sadly here on holiday we have none.
Hope you are a bit better after putting it on ice.

@Ineeddentures After icing it I was a bit better, but not pain-free.
I was thankful that we had a party to go to for a few hours to distract me from dwelling on the pain.
We had a really good time at the party.

Thanks, my ankle and hip are just that, I have my ankle elevated right now.
My second toe just froze up and doesn't want to wiggle, but that will pass I'm sure.
I did get the correct gift card, it is to a The Children's Place, which is a clothing store. She and her mother can go shopping for their big upcoming trip to the Philippines this summer. I also bought her an adorable placemat with the Care Bears on it, a little yellow rubber duck with a birthday hat a on and a sensory story book.

Thanks, we always eat really really well at this family's home.
The husband loves to use his smoker to do brisket and ribs, and the wife is Philipino and can cook up a storm like nobody's business. We will have a light lunch so that we do not insult her by not eating enough while we are there. It is a really friendly and fun group.
That museum is so great. Willow went 'fishing' at it one time, and it was so life-like.
It teaches the children where their food comes from in that section and the one in the this picture. I like that idea.
