Giving It Up

So some of you know I have an unfortunate love of regular Coca Cola. I wonder if it is different in some countries because one European Mylotter said she couldn’t take the smell. There is no smell to them here. Anyway, I fell off the wagon, but I want to get off all that sugar. So I switched to Coke Zero with no sugar. Gradually, I hope to get off that too. But for now it has been four days with no regular Coke. What do you really need to give up, and maybe you will, and maybe you won’t?

You can do it. I had a terrible Coca Cola addiction. I don’t touch the regular ones at all anymore. It’s been about 20 years. I occasionally do a zero one. Good luck.

You will get there, it takes baby steps sometimes to get to the end goal. For me, I really have to give up smoking not only is it not good for me, but it's not good for my pocket either. Will I give it up? I hope so, but the problem is I lean on it as a stress reliever.

I totally get that. Coca Cola for me gives my mood a boost.

@MarieCoyle Well, I’m always going to have to have caffeine. My neurologist said with my migraines it’s not a good idea to get off of it. And weirdly, a study a few years ago said sugar doesn’t give energy, it just makes you feel better. I would counter to the person who did that study that they never saw little children after eating candy.

@AmbiePam Well...one can (just one can, yes!) of Coca-Cola has TEN teaspoons of sugar in it, and some caffeine as well, although not as much caffeine as coffee. Combine the sugar and the caffeine, and yes, it would definitely give your moods a boost and also an energy zing!

All know is Mexico uses real sugar and puts them in bottles like when they first came out. The taste is not jump off the page different but most just like the original bottles..

I have seen the Mexican cokes around here too. I guess it’s the glass bottle, but I think they taste better than coke in plastic bottles or aluminum cans.

I'm losing weight but still drink Mountain Dew once or twice a month. (You know drinking the diet sodas is just as bad as drinking the ones with sugar, right? There are studies that show they can both cause you to gain weight. Pretty drinks diet soda and is gaining weight but won't give them up. *shrug*) Good luck!

I knew any soda was bad for you, but maybe I can cut down to a few a month. Perhaps just when I eat out with family.

Drink lemon induced water. If you gt used to the taste of the water with lemon, you will have a hard time drinking coke because it will taste tooooooo sweeeeeet It works for me. Maybe you can try. It has been like 6 or 7 years I stopped drinking coke. Well, I can still drink or sip but it taste different now

I would say probably soda in general. I don't buy or drink it as much as I used to though. It has gotten so expensive. Besides it is terrible for your teeth.

I am still drinking Coke Zero, but even Coke Zero has aspartame - artificial sugar- which researchers are finding out its side effects. I plan to switch to healthier beverages eventually.

This has been so hard. Coca Cola seems to be the only thing that keeps my nausea away.

I never had a problem with the coca cola's smell, everytime I open its cold bottle it is always refreshing, hehehehe, but I don't drink much because I get fat fast whenever I drink it everyday.

You can do it. I was recently in the USA & everything is just mega sweet. My daughter & family just came back from Florida & did not really like the food either as they found it too sweet too!

I don't think I really overdo anything although I could easily pig out (excuse the expression) on chocolate. I don't buy it now so there is never any to have but just occasionally I buy some.

I drink Classic Diet Coke Caffeine Free. I have no control when it comes to jelly beans and ice cream. I have 12 ice cream bars in my cart; but I will only eat one a day. If I had a carton of ice cream, it would be gone in 1 to 2 days.

I am just not tempted to even drink soda, or want it...unless I have a flu, which usually calls for a Sprite or Ginger Ale. I do love my coffee, I was concerned I was drinking too much but the doc says I am good. You might try sparkling water, with a fruit flavor. My daughter loves it and I have had it at her house, in different flavors. It really is good.

I did sparkling water for a good long while, but the kind I actually liked was more expensive than soda. I’ve probably just not tried the right one yet. Surely there’s one with a good mix between taste and price.

I gave up sugar and creamer in coffee years ago. I like fizzy stuff, but never have more than one soda a week if that. I need to give up breads, and desserts.

I'm not big into soda in general. I do keep some ginger ale on hand here and at work if I'm feeling the need for some carbonation. I pretty much just drink ice water. On the rare occasion I want soda I choose Diet Pepsi.

I gave up on carbonated drinks like coke, Pepsi etc a long back, more than a decade. I have them very rarely, only in situations where I have no other choice. I am cutting down on sugar, artificial sweetener and I am making a good progress there. I want to bring it down to zero sugar. I have cut down on processed food too to a great extent.
