Okay, So I'm MOSTLY Following Orders

I try as best as I can to follow doctor's orders. On my last visit he told me my cholesterol was very slightly elevated and to refrain from eating as much pork.
Of course, pork is a staple in our house.
So, I have followed his orders mostly, significantly cutting it back. At least the less lean cuts like pork butt and pork steak.
But tonight, we're having braised pork butt steaks, which we actually have not had in at least two weeks. And that's saying something in our house, trust me. But I had to get some pork for some pulled pork we have planned next weekend with our guests on our next camping trip, and Schnuck's had pork butt steaks on sale for $1.39 per pound.
I simply could not pass them up. Doctor's orders aside, I think we're good. Of course, I am sure I will know for sure when I head out for my next visit in the next few months.
Meanwhile, I played with AI a bit and had it cartoonize a picture of Grayson we had of him when we first got him and he hid behind the washer and dryer. I thought AI did pretty good with it, and he's just as cute as a cartoon as he is in real life.
What do you think?

You can always take pravastatin for your cholesterol.

(Unless you can’t…meaning there’s a medicine that you take that interacts with it, or you love grapefruit too much to give it up.)
Cute AI picture of the kitty.

My primary care took me off statins, they cause too much pain. Cardiologist wants me to try repatha--but pharmacy says HE screwed up the orders.

I like both Grayson and Cal’s images. Pork, what does it taste like?
I haven’t had pork since 2014 probably. That’s when I met hubby. Gave it up out of respect for him. And then I gave up seafood too.

It tastes like a pig. lol. As for me, I'd never give up anything I like and I'd find it disrespectful for my spouse to expect me to, and likewise for me to expect her to. We accept each other for who and what we are. That is what marriage is supposed to be. In my opinion, of course. It's also none of my business how you conduct your marriage. lol
The way I look at it is, you either love me for who I am or you don't love me. If you want to change me into something you'd like better...
You probably should have kept shopping for a mate.

@lovebuglena That kind of happened with my wife as well, but I took her "as is," and her, me. lol

Grayson is adorable however he's pictured. You'll get your cholesterol down. I learned to not eat anything high in cholesterol or triglycerides at least two days before the blood test.

Not sure what spiked it, honestly. I never had any issues with it before. But I have cut back significantly at least on the pork. Maybe that will help? Who knows?
BTW, I agree about Grayson, but of course, I may be just a wee-bit biased as well. lol

@porwest I think it's genetic. Hubs and I used to eat the same things....my cholesterol was high and his wasn't. His parents would eat high-fat meals and they lived to 87 and 90. They would have lived longer except for other medical conditions.

@LindaOHio I agree genetics play a huge role in our health and longevity and how our bodies react to things. I remember old man Milton, who was a guy who drank like a fish and smoked like a chimney. He lived well into his 90s and was healthy as an ox.

Pork is good.
I think Pork is good and I eat quite a lot of Pork and it's a regular thing in our house.
I was told I had high cholesterol - so I sat on the floor

Cute and adorable kitty pick. It is okay to try to follow doctor's orders, unless THEY screw them up, and that is all I am saying at this time. Just balance out your pork with lots of fruits and veggies.

I like pork, but haven't recently eaten it maybe I'll get some for grilling in June. Your picture is so cute.

Get yourself on the statins, then you can eat what you like!

Atorvastatin is one of the meds I take once a day. The doctor suggested I eat more chicken instead of beef, turkey and pork... It's a good thing I like chicken. Of course, now I'm not supposed to eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice.
It's always something...

That's a cute cartoon. AI did a good job.
Here, we have a soy milk which helps to lower the level of cholesterol. It is effective. I'm sure you have something like this in the US.

I have yet to dive into the world of AI, mostly because I don't ever seem to have time for it, but also because I'm just not that familiar with it. But, like anything, the best way to familiarize yourself with something is to dive right into it. So maybe one of these days. The AI picture of Grayson did turn out pretty darn good, I must say.
Low cholesterol has always been a blessing in my life, as (knock on wood) I've never had any issue with it. Now my blood glucose levels, well that's another story altogether.
A pork butt steak sounds delicious, as well as pulled pork. My birthday is coming up this Friday, and I know the girls will be taking me out for a steak dinner. I just don't know where yet. But I'm looking forward to it.

Cutting back is a good start, I stopped eating pork about a year ago due to the amount of fat that's in it
