6/21/25 - Meals

Weed man showed up at 7 am with a woman who has 30 years of experience landscaping; so she knew which plants were weeds and which plants to keep. A couple of my azalea plants died. Everything else looks OK. What a difference. They did a good job. They are coming back in a couple of days to spray when the ground dries out. This was expensive; so I don't want to see another weed from now on. I managed to clog the toilet again. Because it was the weekend, I had to pay premium rates. $399. Total highway robbery for something that took 5 minutes. The microwave wasn't working because the plug came out of the surge protector. The way it's set up, I need a surge protector with a longer cord. I ate my lasagna MOW lunch cold; and the rest of my meals until Monday will be PB&J sandwiches. I ordered a surge protector with a 10 foot cord. That should do it. It will be in my grocery order for Monday. With this oppressive heat that is coming, be sure to stay hydrated and keep your time in the sun to a minimum!!! Breakfast - PB&J sandwich Lunch - Extra MOW meal - Lasagna, mixed veggies, garlic bread, oatmeal cookie, Mandarin oranges Dessert/Snack - Lemon blueberry muffin Dinner --- I don't remember the order of the meals I had yesterday. Sigh. What did you eat yesterday? Photo Credit: Pixabay

I ate a sausage, egg and cheese croissant for breakfast, had a cup of Bing cherries for a snack about noon, then ate some chicken nuggets for supper. (I gave those back and am running a fever. I'm curious if I caught a bug while getting my hand stitched up in the hospital a couple of days ago?)

@LindaOHio I will. Running 101F fever... It should be a fun night. At least the hand/stitches look good... Pretty cleaned that area for me and changed the bandages again.

Get an extra bottle of dish wash liquid, Dawn is the best. If you have a clog squirt a good squeeze of soap in. It helps and is supposed to be an easy and cheap fix. We do not have a clog problem here so I cannot swear if it works. I am glad weed guy brought an expert.

@snowy22315 Cool. Thanks. I had a bottle of Green Gobbler I could have used. It's supposed to dissolve everything safely. Next time I will use it. Could have saved $399.

Plumbers are why I believe you don’t have to have a college degree to make a lot of money. I’m so glad your landscaping issues are over with now! Yesterday was my dad’s party, so I hate too much. I had pulled pork, macaroni salad, 7 layer salad, pasta salad, fresh strawberries, and a piece of chocolate cake. Then, because my sister sent me home with a tray of pulled pork, I had that for dinner too.

Wow, it was a rough day for you all the way around. I had the chicken & cheese baked potato for lunch and more broccoli & rice for dinner. I had blueberry fake sorbet after lunch and “tropical fruit” after dinner. And yogurt!

We went out in the morning and had a slice of cake, we both were not hungry and only had a yogurt for lunch, cold roast beef and potato salad for dinner.

@LindaOHio - Today it's a nice day, except that my husband wants to do something with the computer, he remembers nothing and I am here repeating things over and over again. It's depressing and frustrating.

Are you saying the guy doing the weeds doesn’t know a weed from a plant? It sucks that it’s so expensive to unclog a toilet. Highway robbery as they call it. Hopefully it won’t get clogged again any time soon.

Whew, sounds like your house went through a full-on battle — weeds, toilets, and unplugged microwaves! ?? $399 for a 5-minute fix? That plumber must be driving a Ferrari now. Cold lasagna and PB&J for the win though! Hope that 10-foot surge protector brings peace to your kitchen kingdom. Stay cool out there! ??

How did you clog the toilet? And so bad you couldn't just plunge it? In any event... For dinner we went for simple. We took a little trip to Eureka, about an hour away, to scout out some campsites in the area and do some other fun stuff, had lunch at Lion's Choice and probably ate a little too much, got home and spent some time in the pool, and then just made ham and Swiss sandwiches on toasted bread with macaroni and cheese on the side.

I plunged and flushed as much as I could. Plumber said the clog was 4 feet away...so all I did was move it a bit. What fun stuff did you do?

@LindaOHio I wonder what the heck was in there to clog it? lol As for the "fun" stuff, we went to a Goodwill in Washington, MO and another one in Fenton, MO, and I guess you could include our pool time later on as part of the fun stuff.

That's surely a highway robbery for unclogging the toilet. Glad that you can notice the difference. They better do their job perfectly for the kind of money that they are charging. Your meals sound good.

@LindaOHio I'd take 91 over the 50s lol. 76 at this time would be awesome - it's 40 degrees here...BRR. Going to bed soon and turning on my heated blanket haha. Shouldn't need to since it is officially summer!

@LindaOHio I have drain rods Wouldn't be without them. Our drains are 130 years old. Having said that, 5 years in this apartment now and we have never had to use them although I did unclog one outside. A costly clog indeed

I hope that you have some fresh fruit, vegetables and some cheeses to eat in place of meals this weekend. I plan on going with that and yogurt for the next week or so due to the weather. Although we have a/c, we sill need to turn it up so that we don't contribute to the strains on the grid, and possible brownouts.
